I Can't Get No Satisfaction
José Feliciano Lyrics

'Cause I try and I try and I try and I try
I can't get no, I can't get no
When I'm driving in my car, and the man comes on the radio
He's telling me more and more about some useless information
Supposed to fire my imagination
That's what I say
I can't get no satisfaction, I can't get no satisfaction
'Cause I try and I try and I try and I try
I can't get no, I can't get no
When I'm watching my TV and a man comes on and tells me
How white my shirts can be
But, he can't be a man 'cause he doesn't smoke
The same cigarettes as me
I can't get no. Oh, no, no, no. Hey, hey, hey
That's what I say
I can't get no satisfaction, I can't get no satisfaction
'Cause I try and I try and I try and I try
I can't get no, I can't get no
When I'm riding round the world
And I'm doing this and I'm signing that
And I'm trying to make some girl, who tells me
Baby, better come back maybe next week
'Cause you see I'm on a losing streak
I can't get no. Oh, no, no, no. Hey, hey, hey
That's what I say. I can't get no, I can't get no
I can't get no satisfaction, no satisfaction
No satisfaction, no satisfaction
The famous song by José Feliciano, 'I Can't Get No Satisfaction,' is a lyrical description of modern life's frustrations. The theme of the song is the sense of disappointment, confusion, and dissatisfaction that many feel while living in a consumer-driven society. The singer cannot find satisfaction because he is bombarded with useless information about how he should live his life. He is continuously told what to wear, what to smoke, and what to like. The first verse speaks of a radio announcer filling the airwaves with "useless information" that is supposed to fire the singer's imagination, but he is not entertained by it. He is similarly disenchanted by the images on his television screen that tell him how to stay clean, but he cannot find anything that satisfies him.
The second verse is about how he tries to get satisfaction by impressing women. Even when he is on the road, doing everything he can to make a woman happy, she tells him to come back later because he is "on a losing streak." The chorus, repeated multiple times throughout the song, emphasizes the singer's frustration with his inability to find satisfaction, no matter how hard he tries. He's constantly striving, but he always seems to come up short.

This recording is stereo. The track is from Feliciano's album "Fireworks" which was released in 1970. It was probably still standard practice back then to release LP's in 2 versions - a Mono one and a Stereo one - because a lot of people still only had mono record players. You probably have an original copy of the mono version. I believe you will find that all the Beatles albums were released in both mono and stereo - google it and you will see fans still debate which recordings are the better.
