The song Crosses, from Crosses EP and the later Veneer, appeared on the finale of the second season of the popular American television comedy-drama The O.C.. His cover of Heartbeats (also from Veneer) was used in a popular Sony BRAVIA TV commercial featuring coloured bouncing balls in San Francisco and an episode of Zach Braff's Scrubs
His song Far Away was also prominently featured in the Rockstar video game Red Dead Redemption.
His trademark sound is solo acoustic guitar with soft melody. His work, although mostly original, does include acoustic covers of great hits such as Love Will Tear Us Apart, Born in the U.S.A., and Teardrop.
González also appears in the Zero 7 album The Garden, in which he sings on three tracks and on a re-worked version of Crosses.

i agree there is more uneasiness in this album than any other JG release but i would assert that the same tension has always been there, just maybe more pronounced that he is getting older and these themes continue to prevail.
i think the lack of comfort with the song though is so true.... i think this is the whole point. "lose the amber" i.e. lose the hesitation, "lose and build up tension", throw away the old tension and focus your tension on something worth being tense about... something that will "carry you" throughout the rest of your life. almost an admittance that what you were doing before this isn't enough and to replace the old tension with a worthwhile tension. operating that there will always be tension somewhere in one's life, at least make it worthwhile.
that's the great challenge and tension of his music and why it feels like it has built up over time.
the overarching theme of JG's music is to search inside onself and then use that experience to make meaning in life, despite all the evil pervading. This song has the same theme and still represents a similar place, as he was 10 years ago in his older song themes, so it will feel more tense than earlier as it is the same topic.
ultimately this song tells me, despite the above, to just bask in the beauty of being here at all, even if it means those moments where you are feeling discomfort. bask in it because that is the entirety of life. without it you wouldnt be whole and things would be less beautiful.
