Aquella mujer
José Luis Perales Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

La la la...

Su mirada puesta en el tren
su equipaje sobre el andén y su tristeza.
Marchará para no volver
le dirán tan solo una vez que le ha engañado.

Aquella mujer celosa,
aquella feliz esposa
que nunca salió de casa... y
que siempre cuidó mimosa
en su jardín flores rojas
aquella mujer hermosa.

Partirá, no sabe adónde,
y al mirar el horizonte verá otra tierra;
dejará sus verdes trigos,
su mujer, y sus amigos para quererla

ya nunca será celosa
ya nunca será mimosa
solo podrá ser
¿la mujer de quién?
Y Pablo se Irá muy lejos
y cuando mire un espejo
verá que su sol se apagó.

La la la...

Overall Meaning

The opening lines of Jose Luis Perales's song Aquella mujer set the stage for a story of a woman preparing to leave behind her old life and embark on a new journey. Her eyes are fixed on the train, her baggage on the platform, and her sadness palpable. She is leaving, and she knows she will never return. Others will tell her that she was deceived, but she knows the reasons for her departure are more complicated than simple betrayal.

As the song progresses, we learn more about the woman's life before her departure. She was a jealous wife, always tending to her garden of red flowers, and seldom leaving her home. The thought of traveling to new places, leaving her marriage, and her safe routine fills her with equal parts fear and excitement. She is leaving behind her green fields, her wife, and her friends, to discover new horizons. With this new adventure comes a sense of freedom and liberation, but also the uncertainty of the unknown.

The song is not only about the woman's journey, but also about the man she leaves behind. Pablo will not be able to hold onto her, and as he looks in the mirror, he sees the light that was once in his life has gone out forever. The song explores themes of love, jealousy, betrayal, and the bittersweet moments of moving on.
