me sorprendió llorando, soledad.
me sorprendió llorando, soledad.
¿Dónde estarás amigo que soñé?
¿Quién te dirá los años que perdí
viendo pasar el tiempo en el reloj
para robarle al mundo una canción?
Te contaré que tuve que sufrir
para vivir cantando mi verdad
Te contaré que algún amanecer
me sorprendió llorando, soledad.
¿Dónde estarás amigo que soñé?
¿Quién te dirá los años que perdí
viendo pasar el tiempo en el reloj

Te contaré que tuve que sufrir

Te contaré que algún amanecer

¿Dónde estarás amigo que soñé?

In “Soledades,” José Luis Perales describes his pain and solitude as a singer-songwriter whose music has fallen on deaf ears. He sings about his passion for writing and composing songs about everything from the land and sea to love and departure. He has poured his heart into singing about his people and others, and about freedom, but the person he is addressing in the song has never paid attention to his music or understood the emotions he has conveyed through his lyrics. Despite this, Perales has learned to let go and move on with time, but he will still continue to sing for this person.
The chorus of the song repeatedly says that Perales will sing for this person, and that he will tell them about his struggles and sorrows as he continues to pursue his passion for music. He talks about crying in solitude on some mornings, wondering where his dreams of friendship have gone, and thinking about the time he has spent observing the clock pass by as he tries to capture the essence of the world through his songs. Through all these setbacks and challenges, Perales has not lost his determination to sing and compose music that will touch the hearts of people who are struggling just like he is.
