Sweetly singing o'er the plains
And the mountains in reply
Echoing their joyous strains.
Gloria in excelsis Deo
Gloria in excelsis Deo
Christ whose birth the angels sing
Come adore on bended knee
Christ the Lord, the newborn King
Gloria (let us sing)
In excelsis Deo (in excelsis Deo)
Gloria in excelsis Deo
Gloria (Angels, we have heard on high, sweetly singing)
In excelsis Deo
Gloria in excelsis Deo-oria in excelsis Deo
In Excelsis Deo
The song 'Angels We Have Heard on High' is a beautiful hymn that tells the story of the birth of Jesus Christ. The opening lines describe the angels singing sweetly over the plains and the mountains joining in to echo their joyful strains. This can be interpreted as the sounds of heaven and earth coming together to celebrate the birth of the Savior.
The chorus of the song, 'Gloria in excelsis Deo', translates to 'Glory to God in the Highest'. This is a common phrase used during Christmas to express joy and worship for the birth of Jesus. The second part of the song invites listeners to come to Bethlehem to witness the birth of Christ and to bow before Him in adoration.
Throughout the entire song, the angels are portrayed as messengers of God, openly proclaiming the good news of Christ's birth to the shepherds in the fields. This song is a beautiful reminder of the wonder and awe of the Christmas story and the importance it holds for Christians around the world.

My favorite is Tabernacle choir at Temple square. With orchestra.
Hands down. This rendition lacks power. Both singers seemed to strain, at times, shouting their lryics.
