Josiah Everhart Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Some would say that seasons won't change
When the sun goes down for the last time
I'm the same, when I saw that you called
Well I let it ring for the last time
It's true you left me behind
And it's true that I didn't want to go anyway
It's true that you change my mind
It's true I can't press rewind
I can't hang, God know that I've tried
But if it's any prize, I never lied
Though I can't stay, I'm glad that you called
But if I don't say goodbye there's always next time
It's true you left me behind
And it's true that I didn't want to go anyway
It's true that you change my mind

It's true I can't press rewind
It's true you can't press rewind

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Josiah Everhart's song "Rewind" speak of a failed relationship and the regret that comes with it. The singer seems to be resigned to the fact that he cannot go back and fix things, even if he wants to. He acknowledges that the person he was with has moved on and left him behind. He describes himself as being unable to hang on any longer, having tried to hold onto what he had but ultimately failing.

The chorus of the song is particularly poignant, as it highlights the central theme of the song - the inability to turn back time and change the past. The singer admits that he cannot press rewind, cannot undo what has already been done. The repetition of this line emphasizes its importance and drives home the sense of regret and longing that permeates the song.

I absolutely adore this one!

That's the way I can tell if a song is good - it's been stuck in my head ever since you first released it,and some days I just found myself humming the lyrics out of nowhere. It's amazing how songs can bring you back to certain times and feelings and this one has been exactly that for me,so thank you Josiah,you are incredibly talented and awesome.

I found you through a gaming channel who used your cover of a song from Life Is Strange as its outro (really random, I know),and I've been listening to your music ever since. I found your video descriptions and attention to detail so cool because it showed that you really care about everything that you put out, which is something that should be appreciated waaay more these days.

Sending lots and lots of love and support! Yearn in Years will hopefully gain all the attention it deserves<3

Hello,

I'm part of the silent community on your channel. I have been a subscriber for many years and I wanted to encourage you to continue what you are doing. You have a beautiful voice, soft and pleasant to listen to. I'm not gay, but when a truth needs to be told, it needs to be told. I like your music, the melodies are beautiful. Your music is unique to me, I've never heard the same anywhere else. I'm not a good singer, but sometimes I sing your music in my head or whistle the tune.

I'm not very good in English, so I don't understand all your videos (especially when you speak in front of the camera). But for the music I thank you to put the lyrics in description. Don't let the difficulties or the negative criticisms you might have get you down, just keep doing what you have to do and move forward.

Thank you for reading all the way through :)

My guy, this has nothing to do with sexuality, when it comes to music there is absolutely nothing wrong with being able to enjoy a nice soft tune
Josiah is a great singer and composer so its no wonder you like it
(Also if you like this kind of music, keane is a pretty good band, funnily enough they dont use guitars )

@AmieWaters

The lyrics fit perfectly what i'm going through, and it's very inspiring, so i started to write music. Thank you for your song, it helps me to move on.

@keaton5101

this is one of the first of JE's original songs that i listened to, and it really, uh... hit me hard. especially with what i was going through at the time.
for me this song is about moving forward and letting go, and that's something i think i needed. i still listen to this song a lot.
its quality also convinced me to listen to the rest of Yearn in Years. i think it's a good one to put near the front.

@Hadoukendaubatuba
