Her debut album, The Soul Sessions, consists of classic soul tracks by Betty Wright, Aretha Franklin, Laura Lee and Bettye Swann and was released in late 2003. It reached the top 5 in the UK albums chart, and also made the top forty of the U.S. Billboard 200 album chart.
Joss Stone was nominated for "British Breakthrough Act", and won "British Female Solo Artist" and "British Urban Act", entering the Guinness World Records for being the youngest BRIT Award solo winner at age seventeen.
After achieving critical acclaim for The Soul Sessions, Stone recorded an album full of original songs in 2004 titled Mind, Body & Soul.
It proved to be an even bigger success than her first album, as it debuted at #1 in the UK (breaking the record for the youngest female ever to top the albums charts there, a record previously held by Avril Lavigne).
Stone began working on her third studio album, Introducing Joss Stone, at Compass Point Studios in Nassau, Bahamas, in May 2006.
It was released on 12 March 2007 in the UK on Virgin Records, involving production by Raphael Saadiq and collaborations with Lauryn Hill, Common and Joi.
Stone describes it as "truly me. That's why I'm calling it Introducing Joss Stone. These are my words, and this is who I am as an artist".
The album debuted and peaked at number twelve on the UK Albums Chart. It also debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 selling 118,000 copies in its first week, becoming the highest debut for a British solo female artist on the U.S. chart, surpassing the record previously held by Amy Winehouse with Back to Black. It has sold 60,000 copies in the UK since its release.
Joss Stone was nominated for the MOBO Award for "Best UK Female" in September 2007, but lost out to Amy Winehouse.
Tell Me 'Bout It, the album's lead single, debuted and peaked at number twenty-eight on the UK Singles Chart—where it stayed for three weeks only, and peaked at number eighty-three on the U.S Billboard Hot 100.
The second single, Tell Me What We're Gonna Do Now, a collaboration with rapper Common, made the top sixty-five of the U.S. Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs.
Joss Stone turned its music video to a Product Red — this means that the video is available online over iTunes Store and that the gains from these sales revert to Product Red, an organisation which helps women and children in Africa affected by HIV and/or AIDS.
Joss Stone is the first artist to do this, entering the Guinness World Records once again.
On 4 October 2007, Stone's official website confirmed Baby Baby Baby as the album's third single.
Stone's fifth album, LP1 was released on 26 July 2011. The Somehow Songfacts says that the long player was the first release through Stone's own Stone'd Records and was recorded in just a week at Blackbird Studios in Nashville. Stone fought a legal battle with her record company EMI to release her from her contract and The LP1 album title signifies the fresh start the singer felt she was making.
Trivia:
Worryingly for fans of Stone, she recently confessed that singing is not a career she plans to stick to: she told a journalist recently that she would like to give it up in a few years to become a normal housewife with a husband and children.

Cry Myself To Sleep

'Cause you stood on every word
That I muttered
I looked at you and lied with my lips
I thought that I loved you
While my soul was asking why
Why I'm not surprised
I lost my faith in the truth
But I won't cry myself to sleep no
Stop before it starts
Gonna find myself a pain
And write down my heart
I won't cry myself to sleep no
Don't let it go too far
Put in down on paper
The reasons we're apart
Ah, where it's tough to see
Or even begin to understand a girl like me
I find it hard to say
Anything I'm feeling
So I will concentrate
The hurt I live and breathe in
So I won't
I won't cry myself to sleep no
(Stop before it starts)
Gonna find myself a pain
And write down my heart
I won't cry myself to sleep no
(Don't let it go too far)
Put in down on paper
The reason we're apart
Oh oh yeah
Is there a good reason?
Oh oh yeah
I won't cry myself to sleep no
(Stop before it starts)
I gonna find myself a pain
Yes I will
I won't cry myself to sleep no
(Don't let it go too far)
Put in down on paper
I won't
So I am letting you know
I'm letting you go
Yes I am
I won't
I won't cry myself to sleep
I won't ?
Yes, I will
I won't, I won't cry myself to sleep at night
Not no more, see those days are gone boy
I won't cry myself to sleep, no I won't
Not no more
The lyrics to Joss Stone's "Cry Baby Cry" are about a breakup and the aftermath of moving on. The singer is grappling with her feelings for her ex-partner and coming to terms with the fact that their relationship wasn't built on a foundation of truth. She acknowledges that she lied to herself and her partner about her true feelings, and in turn lost them. Instead of crying herself to sleep over their breakup, she decides to take control and turn her heartbreak into art. By writing down her soul and putting the reasons for their separation on paper, she finds a way to release her hurt and move on with her life.
Throughout the song, the lyrics paint a picture of someone who is hurting and struggling to come to terms with the end of a relationship. The singer's vulnerability is on full display as she speaks candidly about her feelings of doubt and remorse. She's not afraid to acknowledge her own faults and the role she played in the demise of the relationship. Instead of wallowing in her despair, she chooses to process her emotions in a healthy way, using her pain as inspiration for her art.
Overall, "Cry Baby Cry" is a poignant and emotional song about the complex nature of relationships and the challenges of moving on. It's a reminder that even in the midst of heartbreak, we can find a way to channel our emotions and use them to create something beautiful.

I could hardly speak
I was at a loss for words
'Cause you stood on every word
Because you scrutinized every word I said
That I muttered
That I uttered under my breath
I looked at you and lied with my lips
I deceived you with my words while looking at you
I thought that I loved you
I believed that I was in love with you
While my soul was asking why
Although deep down I was questioning whether my feelings were genuine or not
Why I'm not surprised
Why I'm not shocked that our relationship ended
I lost my faith in the truth
I stopped believing in honesty and sincerity
And in turn I lost you
As a result, I lost you
But I won't cry myself to sleep no
I won't cry myself to sleep at night
Stop before it starts
Prevent the situation from escalating
Gonna find myself a pain
I will seek out a painful experience
And write down my heart
And put my emotions down on paper
Don't let it go too far
Don't allow things to get out of hand
Put it down on paper
Write down the reasons why we are no longer together
Ah, where it's tough to see
It's difficult to understand my perspective and emotions
Or even begin to understand a girl like me
Or comprehend someone like me, a girl with complex emotions
I find it hard to say
I struggle to express
Anything I'm feeling
How I feel
So I will concentrate
Therefore, I will focus
The hurt I live and breathe in
On the pain that I feel constantly
Is there a good reason?
Is there a valid explanation?
So I am letting you know
I am informing you
I'm letting you go
I am ending our relationship
Yes, I am
I am doing it without hesitation
Not no more, see those days are gone boy
I won't do it anymore, those days when I cried myself to sleep are gone
Not no more
No longer
