@Cactus521

This was a great classic rock album, heard it my first year in college--had it stuck in my head after listening to it the night before I hiked to the top of Mt. St. Helena, which towered over the Napa Valley where I was raised, along with Mt.Tamalpais and Mt. Diablo, they were the most iconic mountains in the SF Bay Area.

Journey, like Jefferson Starship, The Doobie Brothers, Pablo Cruise and Bill Champlin (who later went on and made the Mega Band Chicago even bigger) were among the only artists that would visit Napa and Petaluma (where parts of American Graffiti were filmed).

Huey Lewis I knew well--not as a performer, he was a guest at a Napa Valley resort I helped manage, and very welcome around me and my staff, very humble and affable performer.

Sadly, one of our resort owners, Peter Stocker, whose daughter I was very close to while I lived in the Napa Valley (like a sister), died in a copter crash similar to the one Bill Graham, promoter of Journey, Huey Lewis, and so many of our bands that performed near that big city by the bay, San Francisco.

We miss Bill and Peter--these bands you cherish came from them and those of us who financed them by working in the Bay Area resort industry, especially SoNapaNomaMendicino, our "nickname" for the wine country we were raised in.

We were rocked by Journey and so many other bands giving us a feeling of belonging in a world class music industry that fostered careers like mine, and helped me have a daughter of my own

She listens to contemporary music and also channels the Classic Rock me, my Mother, and Father, and bros' grew to embrace when we moved from the stodgy and cold Midwest to California, and later some of us settled in Arizona which hosts these bands as well--as well as 2001 World Series Champions, the AZ Diamondbacks.

Journey will always be one of MY TOP TEN! THANKS FOR A WONDERFUL'JOURNEY' THE LAST 40..YEARS!

@autk

This was the soundtrack of my friends and I summer 1980...don't think it's ever been better than that for me...THOSE were the best times.

@allenlocke1935

I was coming out middle school going towards high school that year and the atmosphere of that summer is eternaly magic in my mind to this day. How I would love to go back and relive that summer! The pool, the hangouts with friends and young beauties abound. A long distant paradise.....I can not hear "People and Places" and not think of the pool that summer which was the place to be if you were anyone under 21 years of age in my town. The sights ...the smells...the hopes...and truly fun times...Party On!!!!!!

@autk

@Allen Locke no question! I was 20 and in a great progressive band...and man did we have fun that summer! ... something about it was magically different from any other year. Great times.

@mneisbaar

"the best of times"? That was on another album of Styx ;)

@ollie9777

I'm a little younger but I cannot disagree . had my first french kiss with a beautiful young girl listening to journey . I was so nervous / excited that I slipped off of my perch on the bumper of my mom's 79 ford pickup and painfully clacked our teeth together. lol. kids today don't know what they are missing. I guess kids having access to the most disturbing porn at a young age helped to kill the innocence .sure wish we could get it back.

@maryradloff3594

Best singer in the world!!!

@jksngtrs90

I love all the eras of journey equally and in their own ways but there’s just something about the duality of Gregg Rollie and Perry singing duets that wasn’t around later.

@edpearl299

I was just thinking the same thing!
