Somethin
Journey Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Please come talk to me
Tell me what's on your mind
You say there's nothin' wrong
I know

It's been a long long time
Since I last saw your face
Traces in my mind, I know

You've got somethin' to hide
That you're not telling me
You got somethin' to hide
And I know

Well there's something about you and I know
That you're not telling me

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to the song 'Somethin' to Hide' by Journey depict a conversation between two individuals, one of whom is asking the other to open up and reveal what's really going on inside their head. The first verse of the song sees the person trying to coax the other into talking by asking them to share their thoughts. However, despite the fact that the other person claims there's nothing wrong, the person trying to get them to open up knows that there's something going on beneath the surface.

The second verse of the song suggests that it's been a while since these two individuals have seen each other. However, despite this, their past experiences together have left a lasting impression. The person trying to get the other to open up to them can still recall traces of their relationship in their mind, proving just how important it is that they work things out and move forward.

The chorus of the song repeats the idea that there's something that the other person is hiding. Despite their protestations to the contrary, the person trying to get them to open up knows that there's something going on beneath the surface that they're not sharing. The final line of the chorus drives this point home, suggesting that the person trying to coax the truth out of the other knows that there's more to the situation than meets the eye.

Some experts think so. Appropriately heavy and bluesy with a great pop rock touch

@norotrader903

The first one is a heavy contestant, totally different sound but every song is a full trip.

I agree Cindy. His voice, Robin Gibb and Brian Johnson of AC~DC have voices like no one else. But Steve's voice is uniquely special. I have seen grown men weep at the sound of that voice. As I heard some guy say on some reaction video, "It is paralyzing!!" And he also said something that I think is the reason why none of the other incarnations of Journey just don't get the click He said "It is impossible NOT to watch Steve Perry when he is performing!!" I got a question that I don't know that I have not seen anyone ask nor have I read a definitive answer to: How much of Steve's stagecraft was taught to him by either of his parents?? I know he was almost the spitting image of his dad and I heard him say once in an old interview that his mother was a "Can-can dancer" So I wonder and throw it out there for anyone to ponder.

@Daily_sussy_baka

I agree!🙌

Nothing will ever compare to this lineup of Journey. This is perfection on every level. Steve Perry is the best voice ever in rock music. I’m just so happy that I grew up listening to this band!
