Something To Hide
Journey Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Please come talk to me
Tell me what's on your mind
You say there's nothin' wrong
I know

It's been a long long time
Since I last saw your face
Traces in my mind, I know

You've got somethin' to hide
That you're not telling me
You got somethin' to hide
And I know

Well there's something about you and I know
That you're not telling me

Overall Meaning

Journey's song Something To Hide is an emotional and relatable piece of music that speaks to the core of human relationships. The lyrics explore the theme of secrecy and the fear of opening up to another person. The singer pleads with his love interest to reveal what is bothering her, but she assures him that nothing is wrong. However, the singer knows that something is bothering her and he can't help but wonder what it is. The lyrics "You've got somethin' to hide, that you're not telling me" convey his frustration and confusion.

The song deals with a common issue in relationships: the fear of vulnerability. Many people struggle with revealing their true feelings and thoughts to their loved ones for fear of being judged, rejected or misunderstood. The lyrics express the singer's longing for emotional intimacy and connection, but his partner's reluctance to share her inner world makes him feel helpless.

YEP yep... Agreed

Some experts think so. Appropriately heavy and bluesy with a great pop rock touch

@norotrader903

The first one is a heavy contestant, totally different sound but every song is a full trip.

The VOICE it can’t be duplicated or replaced.. Steve Perry out of this world fantastic!! Steve and Neal together complete perfection!! This is Journey! Timeless..Flipping AMAZING!!! ROCK ON!!🤘🎶🎤🥁🎸🤘❤️🤘

@peakayharris8707

I agree Cindy. His voice, Robin Gibb and Brian Johnson of AC~DC have voices like no one else. But Steve's voice is uniquely special. I have seen grown men weep at the sound of that voice. As I heard some guy say on some reaction video, "It is paralyzing!!" And he also said something that I think is the reason why none of the other incarnations of Journey just don't get the click He said "It is impossible NOT to watch Steve Perry when he is performing!!" I got a question that I don't know that I have not seen anyone ask nor have I read a definitive answer to: How much of Steve's stagecraft was taught to him by either of his parents?? I know he was almost the spitting image of his dad and I heard him say once in an old interview that his mother was a "Can-can dancer" So I wonder and throw it out there for anyone to ponder.

@Daily_sussy_baka

I agree!🙌

Nothing will ever compare to this lineup of Journey. This is perfection on every level. Steve Perry is the best voice ever in rock music. I’m just so happy that I grew up listening to this band!
