The Journey
Journey Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

People have asked me why I choose music
To which I I usually say a gas pedal doesn't know who's sneaker is pressing into it
It just knows to go
And that's all this is really, it's just a bunch of players
A bunch of moving parts
My name is Hamid's Journey
My goal for 2021 is to release about 2 songs every month
This is everything fun for me and for those who may feel the same way
You are always welcome to reach out

My first two singles will be out soon
Here's a peek of what's to come

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "Wheel In The Sky" by Journey speak to the universal human experience of embarking on a journey of self-discovery and the unknown paths that await us. The opening lines of "People have asked me why I choose music" suggest that the singer has been questioned about his choice of profession or passion. He responds by using the analogy of a gas pedal not distinguishing between who is pressing it - it just goes. He implies that music is something that he is naturally driven towards and it is an integral part of who he is.

The second verse "And that's all this is really, it's just a bunch of players, a bunch of moving parts" can be interpreted as a reference to the different individuals that make up a band, a team, or any collective effort. The line suggests that each player has their own unique role to play, and regardless of their differences or individual quirks, they come together to create something cohesive, like a wheel in the sky turning in unison.

The chorus line "Wheel in the sky keeps on turning" is a metaphor for life's journey that keeps moving forward, regardless of our own personal struggles or triumphs. The idea of a wheel in the sky suggests a repetitive or ongoing cycle, where each turn of the wheel represents a new opportunity, challenge, or experience. Overall, the song's lyrics speak to the human desire to explore the unknown and the idea that life is a continuously unfolding journey.

It's been years since hearing this album. It take me back to the summer of 75. I graduated high school and all things to be at my feet. Don't ever take any moment for granite, give it due regard life has to offer. I am now 66 yo, lost many friends, family, most recent my wife of 34 yrs, I wish I could go back and be with her again through her cancer treatment and hospital stays. I kept my promise to her, I stayed by her side, loved her daily. Praise God for that opportunity to send that time with her.

@@andrerone8208 here is something I wrote for my wife.
I felt the flutter of her wings
Overcome with peace and calming warmth in my heart
My love, my Angel wrapped her soft silver feathers around me
Guiding me through a journey of tranquility,
like running water in a stream, giving way to a new path of life.

I'm 67 now, seen this lineup several times at the late great Winterland arena, for those of us who grew up with the music of the 60s and 70s,....we fucking know how great the music was, it cannot possibly be compared to anything.
