Velvet Curtain
Journey Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Opened my eyes to a new kind of way
All the good times that you saved
Are you feeling,
You feeling that way too
Or am I just,
Am I just a fool

Please let me stay
Just another day

Please let me stay

Overall Meaning

In Velvet Curtain, Journey talks about experiencing a new way of life, thanks to someone they met. The person had saved good times, and the singer is wondering if the person feels the same way too or if they are just foolish to believe so. The lyrics evoke a sense of wanting to stay in that moment and not move on to the next day. It feels like the singer has found a kind of contentment that they don't want to let go.

I always loved Gregg's voice. Even when he was in Santana. I also loved it when he and Steve sang together, which wasn't often. Shame. They really sang good together, in my opinion.

Even with the great vocals of Robert Fleischman going on here, you can easily tell how Perry's influence steered the band in its needed direction. BTW, Fleischman was awesome in 'All For You'....

I believe this song's proper title is "Let Me Stay". "Velvet Curtain" was a working title that was used when the song was an instrumental.
