Who's Cryin' Now
Journey Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
And still they try to see
Why somethin' good can hurt so bad
Caught on a one-way street
The taste of bittersweet
Love will survive somehow, some way
One heart burns desire
I wonder who's cryin' now
Two hearts born to run
Who'll be the lonely one?
I wonder who's cryin' now
So many stormy nights
So many wrong or rights
Neither could change their headstrong ways
And in a lover's rage
They tore another page
The fightin' is worth the love they save
One love feeds the fire
One heart burns desire
I wonder who's cryin' now
Two hearts born to run
Who'll be the lonely one?
I wonder who's cryin' now
Only so many tears you can cry
'Til the heartache is over
And now you can say
Your love will never die
One love feeds the fire
One heart burns desire
I wonder who's cryin' now
Two hearts born to run
Who'll be the lonely one?
I wonder who's cryin' now
Oh so tired now, love, love
The lyrics of Journey's song "Who's Cryin' Now" tell the story of a tumultuous relationship. The first verse describes the confusion that often comes with heartbreak - something that seems so good (love) can have such a painful, bitter taste. The second verse speaks to the intensity of the relationship, describing it as a one-way street that was hard to navigate. Despite the many fights they had, neither person could change their stubborn ways, and they tore apart a page in their love story in the midst of their rage. The chorus of the song repeats the question "I wonder who's cryin' now," wondering which of them is feeling the pain of their break-up.
The third verse provides some hope - the pain of heartache can only last so long until it's finally over. The final chorus repeats the question of who's crying now, but with a tone of exhaustion and resignation. The song ends abruptly with the line "oh so tired now, love, love," suggesting that the emotional toll of the relationship has left the singer drained and ready to move on.
Overall, "Who's Cryin' Now" is a classic rock ballad that tells a story many can relate to - the emotional roller coaster of a tumultuous romance that feels like it might never end. The lyrics are beautifully written and the vocals are passionate and powerful, making it a beloved song that has stood the test of time.

NewRetroWave, it's that feeling and emotion that Steve seems to be able to put into every song that he does. I think that I've heard the new guy once or twice, and yes he does sound very close to Steve, however he'll NEVER be able to duplicate that stage presence that Steve has. The way that he talks with the audience, his interaction with the band, and his emotion like he's still up and coming and singing the song to everyone for the very first time.

Steve Perry's voice is what happens when a gift from God is given to someone who puts in the work to nurture that gift. Naturally beautiful and technically brilliant singer
