Who's Crying Now
Journey Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

It's been a mystery
But still they try to see
Why something good can hurt so bad
Caught on a one-way street
The taste of bittersweet
Love will survive somehow, somewhere

One love, feeds the fire
One heart, burns desire
I wonder who's crying now?
Two hearts, born to run
Who'll be the lonely one?
I wonder who's crying now?

So many stormy nights
So many wrong or rights
Neither could change their headstrong ways
And in a lover's rage
They turn another page
The fighting is worth the love they save

One love, feeds the fire
One heart, burns desire
I wonder who's crying now?
Two hearts, born to run
Who'll be the lonely one?
I wonder who's crying now?

Only so many tears you can cry
'Til the heartache is over
And now you can say your love
Will never die

Whoa ooh ooh, ooh ooh

One love, feeds the fire
One heart, burns desire
I wonder who's crying now?
Two hearts, born to run

Who'll be the lonely one?
I wonder who's crying now?

Overall Meaning

Journey’s “Who’s Crying Now” explores the complexities of love and heartbreak. The lyrics describe the confusion and pain that often come with a failed relationship. Despite the difficulty of the situation, the song asserts that love will survive, even if it hurts.

The opening lines of the song, “It's been a mystery / But still they try to see / Why something good can hurt so bad,” set the tone for the entire piece. The lyrics express the confusion and disbelief that often accompany a breakup. The singer notes that even though love is supposed to be positive, it can also cause deep pain.

The chorus of “Who’s Crying Now” asks the titular question, wondering which of the two lovers is struggling more with the end of the relationship. However, the song is ultimately hopeful. It acknowledges that the situation is difficult, but affirms that love is worth fighting for. “The fighting is worth the love they save,” the lyrics declare.

Overall, “Who’s Crying Now” is a poignant exploration of the trials and tribulations of love. It acknowledges the pain and frustration that often come with relationships, but also celebrates the power of love to overcome even the toughest obstacles.

I agree...
I believe that this world should start listening to more good music, because there is power in it. And I believe that the more everyone just plays together, the more we'll all fall into line and be nice to each other.
Anger should be dealt with accordingly, along with all the other negative emotions.
We shouldn't have wars, we don't need to bark, claw, or be at each other's throats. None of us should be bullies to anyone or anything. And if there is a debate turning into a fight, the two parties should just agree to disagree.

My point is, I love that music can bring such positivity to a soul and I feel like more people should listen to more of it.
