Georgia
Joy Vance Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

She is something to behold
Elegant and bold
She is electricity
Running to my soul
Oh, oh, oh, oh

And I could easily lose my mind
The way you kiss me
Will work each time
Calling me to come back to bed
Singing Georgia On My Mind
And I, and I

Lips generous and warm
You build me up like steps
Eyes innocent and wild
Remind me what it's like
Oh, oh, oh, oh

And I could easily lose my mind
The way you kiss me will work each time
Pulling me back into the flames
And I'm burning up again
I'm burning up

And I, I never understood what was at stake
I never thought your love was worth it's wait
Well now you've come and gone
I finally worked it out
I worked it out

I never should have told you
I never should have let you see inside
Don't want it troubling your mind
Won't you let it be

I never should have told you
I never should have let you see inside
Don't want it troubling your mind
Won't you let it be

I never should have told you
I never should have let you see inside
Don't want it troubling your mind
Won't you let it be

I never should have told you
I never should have let you see inside
Don't want it troubling your mind
Won't you let it be

And I could easily lose my mind
The way you kiss me will work each time
Pulling me back into the flames
And I'm burning up again, I'm burning up

And I, I never understood what was at stake
I never thought your love was worth it's wait
Well now you've come and gone
I finally worked it out
I worked it out

Oh, oh, oh, oh

Ooh
Oh, oh, oh, oh

Overall Meaning

The song "Georgia" by Joy Vance is a romantic ballad that describes the passion felt between two people. The first verse describes the woman in the relationship as elegant, bold, and electric. She runs to the singer's soul, giving him a sense of excitement and adventure. Vance's use of the verb "running" in this line helps to evoke the feeling of electricity and movement.

The second verse goes on to describe the physical aspects of the relationship. The woman's lips are generous and warm, and she builds the singer up like steps. This suggests that she is supportive and encouraging. Her innocent and wild eyes remind the singer of what it's like to feel alive and free. The chorus repeats several times that the singer could easily lose his mind due to the way she kisses him, pulling him back into the flames of passion.

The bridge of the song reflects on the singer's regrets about sharing so much of himself with the woman. He worries that he has troubled her mind by showing her what's inside. However, the chorus repeats once again, showing that he can't resist the pull of her kiss. In the end, the singer reflects on how he had never thought her love was worth waiting for, but now that she's gone, he finally understands what he's lost.

Overall, "Georgia" is a heartfelt and emotional song about the ups and downs of a passionate relationship. Vance's use of vivid imagery and repetition helps to emphasize the intensity of the moments between the two characters.

This was going to be my wedding song. My fiancé picked it out after we heard it on Pandora. He usually hated my preferred genre of music but he just loved this song. He died in a wreck last Thursday and I haven’t been able to stop listening to this ever since. God I miss you Jared Spahn you are my world 🖤 looks like the only thing we will be able to use this song for is your funeral but it will still forever be our song.
