Joyce has in her baggage an extensive discography and about 400 recordings of her songs by some of the biggest names in Brazilian popular music, such as Gal Costa, Maria Bethânia, Elis Regina, Milton Nascimento, Ney Matogrosso, Edu Lobo, Emílio Santiago, Boca Livre, Mônica Salmaso, Leny Andrade, Nana Caymmi, Zizi Possi, Elizeth Cardoso, Simone and many others. Internationally, she has been recorded by big names like Annie Lennox, Wallace Roney, Omara Portuondo, Black Eyed Peas, David Sanchez, Jon Lucien, Claus Ogerman, Gerry Mulligan, Till Brönner, Flora Purim and others. Her compositions have been used in soundtracks for films (such as Robert Altman's "The Player" and "Legally Blonde"), animations (she participated in the soundtrack of the Japanese anime "Wolf's Rain" in partnership with Japanese composer Yoko Kanno), TV shows and theater performances.
She received 4 Latin Grammy nominations and has so far 34 individual CDs and 2 DVDs, besides compilations and participations. Currently, her work also follows an international path, with world tours every year and recordings of new albums in different countries, without ever losing her Brazilian-feminine identity. She performs annually on the Blue Note circuit in Japan, and in jazz festivals and tours in Europe, the United States, and Canada.

Estendido no chão
Em vez de rosto uma foto
De um gol
Em vez de reza
Uma praga de alguém
E um silêncio
Servindo de amém...
O bar mais perto
Depressa lotou
Malandro junto
Com trabalhador
Um homem subiu
Na mesa do bar
E fez discurso
Prá vereador...
Veio o camelô
Vender!
Anel, cordão
Perfume barato
Baiana
Prá fazer
Pastel
E um bom churrasco
De gato
Quatro horas da manhã
Baixou o santo
Na porta bandeira
E a moçada resolveu
Parar, e então...
Tá lá o corpo
Estendido no chão
Em vez de rosto uma foto
De um gol
Em vez de reza
Uma praga de alguém
E um silêncio
Servindo de amém...
Sem pressa foi cada um
Pro seu lado
Pensando numa mulher
Ou no time
Olhei o corpo no chão
E fechei
Minha janela
De frente pro crime...
Veio o camelô
Vender!
Anel, cordão
Perfume barato
Baiana
Prá fazer
Pastel
E um bom churrasco
De gato
Quatro horas da manhã
Baixou o santo
Na porta bandeira
E a moçada resolveu
Parar, e então...(2x)
Tá lá o corpo
Estendido no chão...
The lyrics of the song "De Frente Pro Crime" by Joyce depict a scene of violence on the streets of Brazil. The body of a victim lies on the ground, with a photograph of a goal replacing his face. There is no prayer but curses directed towards someone, and the silence serves as a solemn affirmation. The nearest bar quickly fills up with people from all walks of life, including crooks and workers. A man stands on a table and delivers a speech to a council member. Meanwhile, a street vendor offers jewellery and cheap perfume, as well as street food including cat meat. At four in the morning, a religious procession stops at the door of the band and the young people decide to pause and witness the ceremony.
The song speaks about the prevalent crime and violence in the society and the blatant disregard for human life shown by the people. It also portrays the socio-economic divide that exists between various classes of people who come together in the bar. The street vendor, offering cheap goods and cat meat, underlines the poverty in society. The religious ceremony that stops and brings people together again indicates hope and unity.

There is the body outspread in the floor
Instead of a face, a picture of a goal
Instead of a pray someone's curse
And silence sounding like Amen...
The closest bar quickly became packed
Vagabonds amongst workers
A man climbed a bar table
And made a speech as a councilman...
A coster showed up to sell!
Rings, Laces
Cheap perfumes
A Bahian woman to cook
Pastel
And some barbecue in sticks
At four a.m.
The holy spirit
Was received by the carnival dancer
And everyone decided
To stop, and then...
There is the body outspread in the floor
Instead of a face, a picture of a goal
Instead of a pray someone's curse
And silence sounding like Amen...
Without any rush everyone went away
Thinking about a woman or a football club
I saw the body lying there and closed
My window facing the crime...
A coster showed up to sell!
Rings, Laces
Cheap perfumes
A Bahian woman to cook
Pastel
And some barbecue in sticks
At four a.m.
The holy spirit
Was received by the carnival dancer
And everyone decided
To stop, and then...
There is the body outspread in the floor...
