Joyce has in her baggage an extensive discography and about 400 recordings of her songs by some of the biggest names in Brazilian popular music, such as Gal Costa, Maria Bethânia, Elis Regina, Milton Nascimento, Ney Matogrosso, Edu Lobo, Emílio Santiago, Boca Livre, Mônica Salmaso, Leny Andrade, Nana Caymmi, Zizi Possi, Elizeth Cardoso, Simone and many others. Internationally, she has been recorded by big names like Annie Lennox, Wallace Roney, Omara Portuondo, Black Eyed Peas, David Sanchez, Jon Lucien, Claus Ogerman, Gerry Mulligan, Till Brönner, Flora Purim and others. Her compositions have been used in soundtracks for films (such as Robert Altman's "The Player" and "Legally Blonde"), animations (she participated in the soundtrack of the Japanese anime "Wolf's Rain" in partnership with Japanese composer Yoko Kanno), TV shows and theater performances.
She received 4 Latin Grammy nominations and has so far 34 individual CDs and 2 DVDs, besides compilations and participations. Currently, her work also follows an international path, with world tours every year and recordings of new albums in different countries, without ever losing her Brazilian-feminine identity. She performs annually on the Blue Note circuit in Japan, and in jazz festivals and tours in Europe, the United States, and Canada.

Enrolei num novelo
Tirei uma fita,
Prendi meu cabelo
Pra no travesseiro
Meu bem desatar
Depois desfiei uma nuvem
Bordei o decote
Com um resto de brisa
Mostrando meu seio
Pra te convidar.
De бgua do mar e de espuma
Moldei uma saia
Fiz barra e cintura
Da areia da praia
Pra ficar mais fбcil
Meu bem desmanchar
Na rede do quarto crescente
Da lua vadia
O amor que faremos,
Meu bem, todo dia
Nem a poesia pode imaginar
The lyrics of Joyce's song "Novelo" describe a creative and playful process of making something beautiful to attract and invite the singer's lover. She starts by cutting a piece of wind and rolling it into a ball ("Cortei um pedaço de vento / Enrolei num novelo"), tying a ribbon around her hair with it. Then she weaves a shirt out of a cloud, embroidering the neckline with a gust of breeze, revealing her breast to seduce her lover ("Mostrando meu seio / Pra te convidar"). Next, she fashions a skirt out of sea water and foam, using sand from the beach for the hem and waistline, making it easy to undo when her lover comes to join her ("Pra ficar mais fácil / Meu bem desmanchar"). Finally, she sets the scene for their lovemaking in the crescent moon's hammock, promising to make love every day without end.
The song is a tribute to creativity and sensuality, expressing the joy of using one's imagination to make something beautiful and inviting. It celebrates the power of playfulness and the imagination to make ordinary things extraordinary, using everyday elements like wind, clouds, sea water, and sand to create something new and enticing. The song also celebrates the power of love to transform our lives and connect us with the natural world. By making a shirt, skirt and setting a scene for love-making out of natural elements, the singer reconnects with the power of the elements and humanity's deep connection with nature.

Cortei um pedaзo de vento
I cut a piece of wind
Enrolei num novelo
And rolled it into a ball
Tirei uma fita,
I took a ribbon,
Prendi meu cabelo
And tied up my hair
Pra no travesseiro
So that on my pillow
Meu bem desatar
My sweetheart can untangle it
Depois desfiei uma nuvem
Then I unraveled a cloud
Fiz uma camisa
Made a shirt
Bordei o decote
Embroidered the neckline
Com um resto de brisa
With a leftover breeze
Mostrando meu seio
To show off my breast
Pra te convidar.
To invite you in.
De бgua do mar e de espuma
From the water of the sea and the foam
Moldei uma saia
I molded a skirt
Fiz barra e cintura
Made hems and waistlines
Da areia da praia
From the sand of the beach
Pra ficar mais fбcil
To make it easier
Meu bem desmanchar
For you to undo, my love.
Na rede do quarto crescente
In the crescent-shaped bed
Da lua vadia
Of the wandering moon,
O amor que faremos,
The love that we will make,
Meu bem, todo dia
My love, every day
Nem a poesia pode imaginar
Not even poetry can imagine it.
