O Barquinho
Joyce Moreno Lyrics

Um barquinho a deslizar no macio azul do mar
Tudo é verão, amor se faz
Num barquinho pelo mar que desliza sem parar
Sem intenção, nossa canção
Vai saindo deste mar e o sol
Vejo o barco e luz, dias tão azuis
Volta do mar, desmaia o sol
E o barquinho a deslizar e a vontade de cantar
Céu tão azul, ilhas do sul
E o barquinho ao coração deslizando na canção
Tudo isso é paz, tudo isso traz
Uma calma de verão e então
O barquinho vai, a tardinha cai
Volta do mar, desmaia o sol
E o barquinho a deslizar e a vontade de cantar
Céu tão azul, ilhas do sul
E o barquinho ao coração deslizando na canção
Tudo isso é paz, tudo isso traz
Uma calma de verão e então
O barquinho vai, a tardinha cai
O barquinho vai, a tardinha cai
O barquinho vai, a tardinha cai
The song O Barquinho by Joyce Moreno is an ode to the joys of summer and love. The opening lyrics conjure up images of a perfect summer's day, with bright sunshine and the sea glistening blue in the background. The soft sway of a boat on the waves is compared to the ease with which love can blossom, and the boat is described as drifting endlessly on the water, mirroring the way that love seems to take over and carry us away.
As the song progresses, the imagery becomes more intense. The boat is compared to the heart, as both glide effortlessly along, and there is a sense of peace and contentment that pervades the entire piece. The bright blues of the sky and sea become even more vivid, and we are transported to the tropics, where palm trees sway in the breeze and the air is thick with the scent of flowers.
The repeated refrain of "O barquinho vai, a tardinha cai" (the little boat goes, the evening falls) is a reminder that even the most perfect days must come to an end, but the beauty and peace that we find in moments like these will always stay with us.
