Life on the Sun
Joydrop Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Windless summer, snowless winter
Starless night time, loveless valentine
Days that come and go a sometime ending
Nowhere going flow, I don't pretend to know

Shine on me so bright I can't look back
Trust so deep without condition
The infinite zeroes that follow the one

For all we know there is life on the sun

People come and go that I don't really know
So hurt me and I won't hurt you back
'Cause karma takes care of that

There are losers and there are heroes
And ten times zero is still zero
Still we follow the one
For all we know there could be life on the sun

Windless summer, snowless winter
Starless night time, loveless valentine

Overall Meaning

The opening lines of Joydrop's "Life on the Sun" presents us with a bleak picture of the world. The seasons are out of sync, the nighttime sky is devoid of stars, and there seems to be a lack of love, both romantic and universal. The verses paint a picture of a dreary and stagnant world, with aimless routine and no sense of direction. The lyrics seem to allude to a sense of hopelessness and insignificance in the greater scheme of things, as the singer acknowledges their own ignorance of their place in the universe.

However, the chorus brings a glimmer of hope. The singer calls out for something powerful to shine on them, something that inspires trust and hope even without any apparent reason. They mention the concept of "the infinite zeroes that follow the one," implying that there is a greater significance to things, even if it's not immediately apparent to us. The final lines suggest that there could be life on the sun, a seemingly impossible idea that echoes the belief that miracles and beauty can spring from unexpected places.

Overall, "Life on the Sun" is a song about finding hope and beauty even in the darkest of times. It acknowledges the struggles and hardships of life, but ultimately seeks to find beauty in the unknown and the unexplored.

My favorite song on this album... but, for some reason, a part of my CD got damaged or corrupted or something. And it happened just over this song. Worse than that, you cannot find a copy of this song on iTunes or anything. Almost like it's "out of print." So frustrating. So, naturally, I'm glad you posted this. It's pretty much the only way I can hear it.

Just heard this song and it caught my attention....a bit of a dark driving bass riff that sounds great. Overall album is impressive. Surprised I have not heard it on the radio. JwgK
