In 2004, he started to release his music on CDBaby, first under his real name, then using his moniker. The years spanning the middle of the decade he started experimenting with more styles including Soundtrack, Hardcore and Spoken Word. The start of the year 2007 saw him releasing a series of New Age relaxation CDs, a clear Mutant trait (Changing sound). Beyond 2007 Juan has perhaps not been as productive, putting together monotonous 20 + minute songs of repeated samples, sometimes even duplicating his output. It is not unusual for one of his albums to have 150+ tracks even ranging up to 250.
His music is a little like early Psychic Paramount (i.e. the Origins and Primitives album) but has an original sound that is unclassifiable. You can buy one of his 10+ hour magnum opuses online on iTunes or CDBaby for less than 10 dollars. It's so worth it. He sometimes works with John Fox of Ultravox fame, and he also works alone. If you like newer folk/psych/noise Juan is definitely worth checking out. Also, if you just like mellow, psychedelic grooves without much percussion you should also check out Juan. If you like Throbbing Gristle and Psychic TV and bands influenced by these projects, you'll definitely dig most of Juan Mutant's prodigious output. At times, as on the Follow the Dolar album, he seems to be playing with a full band and sounds like some strange post-punk band that never saw the light of day in the early eighties. On that same album, however, there are touches of psychedelia and industrial music. The one constant with Juan Mutant is that his music is ever-changing, and varied. He just needs wider recognition in the United States so he can tour here and blow all our minds.
Breakdown of albums:
Number 1/Iris is Missing: The 1st Juan Mutant release, it is a good insight into what Juan does with guitar, vocals and samples.
22/8/69 / The White House Red: An elaboration of Iris is Missing, contains some duplicates but also new material, in particular the tracks on the last disc (tracks 140-150), a taster of his industrial music. Dat recorder/Erased Data is mis-titled and is in fact "Outsider"
De Eenheid - Sampler: Some of the more psychedelic industrial music Juan made in the early 90s. 50 tracks which provide a good overview of Deliriant Mutant and other tracks recorded in Europe.
Master Plan Kaputt/Boris Karloff y las Guadañas: MIDI-esque tracks with no vocals. A good representation of Juan as a composer and shows what he can do with melody. 12 tracks of the album Cold Static appears early on and there are tracks put together with e-Jay on some of which are actually good. Sparse repetition from 1st two albums.
Follow the Dollar: Juan's 1st cohesive album, a double with a clear division between the two discs. The 1st disc is more song oriented. The 2nd disc while containing songs has extended jams half the way through. More than half of Deliriant Mutant's songs appear on this album.
Look out for the excellent "Let The Ignorance of Desire grow" and the tearing "Dishwasher" on disc 1 and "I Can Hear You" on disc 2

Tightrope Walker
Juan Mutant Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
On a cliff
A rebirth
Tightrope walker
Wrapped in wire fence
Sprinkling blood over the dead black flowers
The tights of justice want another bite of raw human
And now they are so distressed
Everything just dies in pigsty
Holy treason survives in pigsty
HOLY BONDAGE
The lyrics to Juan Mutant's song Tightrope Walker appear to be describing a perilous situation, in which the singer finds themselves at the edge of a cliff, exhausted from their efforts. The use of the phrase "rebirth" suggests that this may be a transformative moment in their life, perhaps one where they are forced to confront their mortality and the inherent risks of existence. The image of a tightrope walker suggests that this moment is one that requires intense focus and balance, both physical and emotional, as the singer navigates the precarious path before them. The use of wire fencing implies a sense of impending danger, perhaps from external forces that seek to contain or control the singer's movements.
