Everything I Own
Jude Lyrics

You kept me warm.
You kept me warm.
You gave my life to me.
You set me free.
You set me free.
Were all the ones I spent with you.
I would give anything I own. Give up my life and my heart, my home.
I would give everything I own, just to have you back again.
You taught me how to love.
And what it's of, what it's of.
You never said too much but still you showed the way.
And so I knew, from watching you.
Nobody else can ever know.
The part of me that can't let go.
I would give anything I own. Give up my life and my heart, my home.
I would give everything I own, just to have you back again.
Just to touch you once again.
Is there someone you know, you're loving them so but taking them all for granted.
You may lose them one day. Someone takes them away and they'll never hear the words you have to say.
I would give anything I own. Give up my life and my heart, my home.
I would give everything I own, just to have you back again.
Everything I own. My life, my heart, my home.
I'd give everything I own. My life, my heart, my home.
Every little thing.
Just to have you back again.
Just to hold you.
The opening verse of "Everything I Own" by Jude speaks of the gratitude and warmth that the singer feels towards someone who sheltered them from harm. The lyrics are full of appreciation and express how this person gave them life and set them free. The second verse talks about the joys of spending time with this person, and how grateful the singer is for those moments.
While the song appears to be a love song, it can also be interpreted as a tribute to a parent, mentor, or teacher who guided and mentored the singer through life. The chorus of the song emphasizes the depth of the artist's feeling for the person they are missing, and how they would give everything to have them back. The final verse is a warning to the listener not to take their loved one for granted, as they may eventually lose them and never get the chance to express their love.
Overall, the song is a poignant reminder of the value of the people in our lives and how we should appreciate them while we still can. The gentle melody and simple lyrics create a powerful emotional resonance, and the song remains a classic to this day.
