All For You
Judy Garland Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Paradise can not refuse us
Never such a happy pair

Everybody must excuse us
If we walk on air

All the shadows now will lose us
Lucky stars are everywhere

As a happy being
Here's what I'm foreseeing

For you, for me, forever more
It's bound to be forever more

It's plain to see
We found, by finding each other
The love we waited for

I'm yours, you're mine
And in our hearts
The happy ending starts

What a lovely world
This world will be
With a world of love in store
For you, for me, forever more.

What a lovely world
This world will be

With a world of love in store
For you, for me, forever more.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to "Hooray For Love" by Judy Garland and Barbra Streisand express a celebration of love and the importance of fighting for it, even if it means facing difficult times. The song starts with the simple statement that love deserves hoorays and that no one should ever be too indifferent or emotionally guarded to embrace it. The lyrics then move on to suggest that love is worth the fight and that those who seek it with determination may find it. The next section of the song gets a bit more melancholic as it explores the aftermath of lost love. The singer acknowledges that after their partner is gone, they will undoubtedly feel sad and miss the person who was once their closest confidant. However, the song takes a hopeful turn as the performer declares they will go on alone, building a new world and facing the unknown with courage and self-confidence.

Judy weaving her magic in a hauntingly brilliant way, stunning talent so powerful to the end plus looking gorgeous & glamorous in this amazing appearance, Johnny was completely moved & had to be blown away by this very fine performance showing the world nobody finer doing an exquisite soulful ballad than Judy Garland!

I come back to this every couple of months because it is just so mesmerizing. Judy is just so mesmerizing! We can never have enough of her and must treasure every bit that we do have! ^^X^^

@dellecav

I remember waiting for this appearance on Johnny's and just flipping over her untarnished looks.  Wow talk about a hot looking gal.  Isn't it weird that some folks at MGM called her "our ugly duckling, our hunchback"?  And in the end she remained to  appear as a lovely, glamorous international star and pretty beyond a dream....

Ken Cava what I really hate is when I read an aging garland with a mouthful of rotten teeth this is so untrue her teeth look great here and it's only six months before her end !

@dellecav

Paul: Judy was a knockout a gorgeous glamorous international sensation...Look at the trash the critics call a star today and laugh! "It's All For You" says it all to her beloved fans and even near death she looked like a dream come true....Ken

@GretaGarbo

@davidsbroadwaystation5107

The songs that Johnny Meyer wrote for Judy:"It's All For You" , "God Bless Johnny", "I'd Like to Hate Myself in the Morning" and "Till After the Holidays". Gladys and Johnny were so good for each other!
