After appearing in Vaudeville theater with her sisters, Judy was signed to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer as a teenager. There she made more than two dozen films, including nine with Mickey Rooney, and the film with which she would be most identified, "The Wizard of Oz" (1939). After 15 years, Judy was released from the studio but gained renewed success through record-breaking concert appearances, including a critically acclaimed Carnegie Hall concert, a well-regarded but short-lived television series, and a return to film acting beginning with "A Star Is Born" (1954).
Despite her professional triumphs, Judy battled personal problems throughout her life. Insecure about her appearance, her feelings were compounded by film executives who told her she was unattractive and overweight. Plied with drugs to control her weight and increase her productivity, Garland endured a decades-long struggle with addiction. Garland was plagued by financial instability, often owing hundreds of thousands of dollars in back taxes, and her first four of five marriages ended in divorce. She attempted suicide on a number of occasions. Garland died of an accidental drug overdose at the age of 47, leaving children Liza Minnelli, Lorna Luft, and Joey Luft.
Legacy
Judy Garland's legacy as a performer and a personality has endured long after her death. The American Film Institute named Garland eighth among the "Greatest Female Stars of All Time". She has been the subject of over two dozen biographies since her death, including the well-received "Me and My Shadows: A Family Memoir" by her daughter, Lorna Luft. Luft's memoir was later adapted into the multiple award-winning television mini-series, "Life with Judy Garland: Me and My Shadows", which won Emmy Awards for two actresses portraying Garland (Tammy Blanchard and Judy Davis).
Garland was posthumously awarded the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1997. Several of her recordings have been inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. These include "Over the Rainbow," which was ranked as the number one movie song of all time in the American Film Institute's "100 Years...100 Songs" list. Four more Garland songs are featured on the list: "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" (#76), "Get Happy" (#61), "The Trolley Song" (#26), and "The Man That Got Away" (#11).
Judy Garland has twice been honored on U.S. postage stamps, in 1989 (as Dorothy) and again in 2006 (as Vicki Lester from A Star Is Born).
Stormy Weather

There's no sun up in the sky
Stormy weather
Since my man and I ain't together
Keeps raining all the time
Life is bare
Gloom and misery everywhere
Just can't get my poor old self together
I'm weary all the time, the time
So weary all of the time
When he went away
The blues walked in and met me
If he stays away, old rocking chair will get me
All I do is pray
The lord above will let me
Walk in the sun once more
Can't go on
Everything I had is gone
Stormy weather
Since my man and I ain't together
Keeps raining all the time
Keeps raining all of the time
I walk around
Heavy-hearted and sad
Night comes around
And I'm still feeling bad
Rain pourin' down
Blinding every hope I had
This pitter 'n patter 'n beatin' 'n spatterin' drivin' me mad
Love, love, love, love
This misery will be the end of me
When he went away
The blues walked in and met me
If he stays away, old rocking chair will get me
All I do is pray
The lord above will let me
Walk in the sun once more
Can't go on
Everything I had is gone
Stormy weather
Since my man and I ain't together
Keeps raining all the time, the time
Keeps raining all the time
Judy Garland's classic "Stormy Weather" is a song about heartbreak and depression. The first verse sets the tone of the song, with the singer lamenting about the rainy, stormy weather reflecting her desolate mood since her man left her. The next verse reveals the depth of her sadness and despair as she finds herself unable to pull herself together. Garland's deeply emotional delivery of these lines helps bring out the pain and loss the singer is feeling.
The middle section of the song is particularly moving as the singer begins to fear the worst - that her man might never come back. The lyrics "If he stays away, old rocking chair will get me" convey the despair and loss of hope that the singer is feeling. The final part of the song sees the singer praying to the Lord for strength and hope, as she hopes for a brighter future where she can "Walk in the sun once more." The song ends on a bittersweet note, with the memories of happier times giving way to the realization that things may never be the same again.

It is more frustrating than anything else. For me, I take the video, then I export every single frame to an image file. From there I use software to enlarge the images. The problem I face is that the frame rate (although 25 or 29.97 for others) is low or how it was capture results in a lot of obscurities. Appearing like smudges or physical deformities that aren’t present in other situations. If the frame is clear then photoshop uses AI to colour it. The big challenge I have is uniformity. The light often changes in the background and AI interprets that in different ways. Sometimes it’s perfect and other times it’s like the subject is in a disco. And I guess that’s to be expected as the colour is guessed rather than exact. I will say that the skin tones, hair and make up comes out perfect every single time. The process for everything… takes about 24hrs and it is mostly automated. I would have liked more tweaking ability, to teach the AI that what it identifies A and B are the same thing across multiple frames. I am very impressed by the results for a relatively new technology. I am hopeful that there will be developments in the software or that there will be someone who can get better results.
For me it’s:
1. Topaz Video Enhance.
2. Photoshop enlargement and colourisation.
3. Final Cut Pro - recompile, retimed, rendered.
4. Output and upload.
Sometimes 24 hrs or if I’m unhappy it could be longer. I can tweak the photoshop phase a little bit. And sometimes I go through several re-jigs. The colourisation step however is set in stone.

I just saw the 100th Birthday celebration concert of Judy with Jessica Vosk. This performance was projected on the stage screens in between songs. Throughout the course of the concert, Jessica would talk about Judy's legacy and playing bits of her notable performances.

It is wonderful to see. Still, there is something appropriately dramatic seeing this in the black and white. The camera loved Judy.
