After collaborating with Future on the mixtape "WRLD on Drugs", which was released later that year and peaked at number #2 on the Billboard 200. He also contributed to the soundtrack for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Juice WRLD announced his second album, Death Race for Love, which was released on March 8, 2019. It was preceded by the singles "Robbery" and "Hear Me Calling", with the former making its debut at number 27 on the Hot 100.
Higgins started his musical influences as being genre-wide going from rock music to rap music. Higgins stated that his biggest influences were rappers Chief Keef, Travis Scott, The Weeknd, Kanye West, and British rock singer Billy Idol. His other influences included Wu-Tang Clan, Fall Out Boy, Panic! At The Disco, Black Sabbath, Megadeth, 2Pac, Eminem, Kid Cudi and Escape the Fate. Higgins' music has been branded as "emo" and "rock" leaning, "genre-bending" with music focusing on having a "every broken heart, every wounded feeling."
On December 8, 2019, Higgins suffered a seizure at Midway International Airport in Chicago, Illinois. According to the Chicago Police Department, Higgins was conscious and bleeding from the mouth when paramedics arrived on the scene. I think the demons are winning
I can't ever do right, I can't lose this fight, I'm already low
I think I need new beginnings
I think the demons are winning
They beat me up
Don't wish me away, wish me luck, yeah-yeah
Who am I to say what good ain't?
I'm finding my way, my way (way)
You can feel it inside you
Don't let it in, it likes you
Don't let it in, feel it inside you
Don't let it in, it likes you
Juice WRLD's song "Demonz" is about one's internal struggles with negative thoughts and emotions. The first line "Can't ever do right, can't lose this fight, I'm already low" suggests that the singer feels defeated by life and is struggling to overcome their circumstances. The repetition of "I think the demons are winning" further emphasizes this feeling of being overwhelmed and outmatched. The demons represent the negative and self-destructive thoughts that are holding the singer back, and they feel like they are losing the battle against them.
The next few lines suggest a need for change and growth, with the singer saying "I think I need new beginnings." However, they also acknowledge that it is not an easy path and that they are being beaten down by their own thoughts and emotions. The line "Don't wish me away, wish me luck" shows that they still have hope for improvement and that they want to be supported in their journey.
