Together with production partner DJ Paul, Juicy J played an important role in the South's rise to prominence within the once East and West Coast dominated rap industry. Behind the duo's leadership, Three 6 Mafia rose from an underground phenomenon in Memphis to a nationally recognized rap empire, spinning off numerous solo albums for the collective's many members in the mid- to late '90s. Like his production partner, Juicy J specialized in dark, eerie tracks driven by bass-heavy beats and haunting sounds. He also raps as a member of Three 6 Mafia. Moreover, Three 6 Mafia ventured into filmmaking with Choices: The Movie and Choices II: The Set-Up, a straight-to-video film starring most of the Three 6 Mafia's collective, Hypnotize Minds. Juicy J (born Jordan Houston) and DJ Paul (Paul Beauregard) first came together at the dawn of the '90s, when they worked as DJs in the Memphis area. The two soon began producing their own tracks and invited numerous Memphis rappers to rap over the beats. They released the resulting tracks locally as Three 6 Mafia; years later these recordings would resurface as re-releases. In 1995, the loose collective Three 6 Mafia began to form and self-released its debut album, Mystic Stylez. The album became an underground success, and Three 6 Mafia, in turn, signed a distribution deal with Relativity for its Hypnotized Minds imprint. Throughout the late '90s, DJ Paul and Juicy J produced numerous albums a year for Hypnotized Minds and capitalized on the lucrative distribution deal. By the end of the decade, the two producers were at the helm of an empire, having extended their brand to alarming lengths, culminating with their commercial breakthrough album, When the Smoke Clears (2000), which debuted at number six on Billboard's album chart.

Yes sir once again itβ²s on Juicy J featuring Project Pat
Chronicles of the Juice man, North North part 2
Raise ya thunbs up my nigg, it's on fool
[Chorus: Project Pat]
North, raise ya thumbs up nigga {*repeat 4X*}
[Juicy J]
North north in this thing and you know we runnin things
March in a cirle man, muscle up untill you strain
Project Pat and Juicy J, the niggaz wit them gold fangs
Yes we keep the lighted dope, and we house the freakest hoes
Then we ride to evergreen, on the block is where we post
Policeman canβ²t stop us, I think they oughta to stop it
I'm talkin in that gheto english, sayin fuck the mobsters
Gangsta niggas walk up in the club, high as hell because we full of drugs.
What gang you claim/ the way they were them hats
Don't get to close be careful we be strapped
We put it on the map, we keep our gezees flapped
And if you see me in the hood you better give me dap.
Iβ²m known as a veteran, my picture should be stacked
From smokin sin to Hollywood they wild over there
[Chorus: Project Pat]
North, raise ya thumbs up nigga. {*repeat 4X*}
[Project Pat]
If ya ainβ²t from my hood you can get the hell from round here
Cause we gon smoke hydro and we gon drink beer
It ain't no muβ²hfuckin secret case we some thugs
It ain't hard, you can peep it we sellin drugs
So donβ²t you cowards step wrong (Smith and Wesson)
These automatics have ya ass singin a different song
A mega blast from these rocks, got the track jumpin'
A North Memphis nigga sell dope Iβ²ll tell you somethin'
Ya car bumpin ridin clean and you see me bold
And now you wonderin why we kickin in your back door
This ain't no suburb my nigg this the ghetto, and you gon come through
Flosin like a prettey hoe
A no no for you off, turn her on niggaz
Show some love or you will meet them chrome triggers
We smokin bud, sippin syzerp, and poppin pills you need some work
Come on throgh we got the best deals
[Chorus: Project Pat]

[Juicy J]

Hypnotize is the label that you donβ²t wnt to hate
I done een niggaz make, I done seen niggas spray
Brothas on the same block till his hair turn gray still all about a hustle
Punchin clock no way. The police hit the block,
Swallow rocks throw the hate

Pretty much all of their early stuff sampled a lot of different songs/movie songs. They are the ones who got me into samples. Itβs crazy how they built a beat around even the smallest sample. Hell theyβve even sampled the intro song from mash and days of our lives
