Julian Casablancas is half American and half Danish and the son of John Casablancas and Jeanette Christiansen. His parents divorced when he was young. He attended kindergarten with future bandmate Nikolai Fraiture.

Early in his teens, Julian's father sent him to the Institut Le Rosey in Switzerland. This was where Julian first met Albert Hammond Jr. , one of few other American students on campus.

When Casablancas returned to New York, he continued his education at the Dwight School, where he met Fabrizio Moretti and Nick Valensi. Julian later dropped out because he felt like he "just wasn't learning anything" there.

During his hiatus from The Strokes, he released a solo album called "Phrazes for the Young" on the 9th of November in 2009.

To date, the Strokes have released Is This It, Room on Fire, First Impressions of Earth, Angles, Comedown Machine and The New Abnormal.

I think he takes himself pretty seriously when it comes to writing music at least most of the time but he's always had this effortless, never-try-too-hard stage persona since the very beginning of The Strokes. So it's no surprise to see him messing around during collaboration.

I feel like no one here actually knew the original of this song, and it makes me so sad to see it. I loved the original for years, and found this cover about a month ago, and can't stop listening to it- so great, Julian is one of my favorite artists, too. Also the 80's were the greatest, man, I wish people would stop pretending they like the 80's, when they only know Girls Just Wanna Have Fun. Sux so much to see such ignorant fu**ers on one of the best covers, like, ever! Educate Yourselves!

Wow. Jules did a really good job with this cover. Managed to keep the original sound with a touch of his Lou Reed inspired voice to make it somewhat his own. Not to mention he even reenacted the original music video. I wont bullshit; I wasn't a fan at first, I thought it was a bad julian song because it didnt sound like him. But I realized it was a cover, not his original stuff, so I learned i liked it.

Anyone know the chord progression? I know it's starting off in A with hammer ons. Any help would be appreciated. I found this song like the Voidz at first. A bit different from what Julian is commercially known for and harder to understand, but when you listen to it more, each time you get more into it and understand. Great cover tbh, loving it.
