Julie Andrews got her big break when her stepfather introduced her to Val Parnell, whose Moss Empires controlled prominent venues in London. Andrews made her professional solo debut at the London Hippodrome singing the difficult aria "Je Suis Titania" from Mignon as part of a musical revue called "Starlight Roof" on 22 October 1947.
Andrews gained fame at a young age in 1950s Britain by acting and singing on light entertainment radio programmes such as "Educating Archie". She rose to international prominence after starring in Broadway musicals such as My Fair Lady and Camelot, as well as musical films like Mary Poppins (1964) and The Sound of Music (1965).
Andrews had a major revival of her film career in the 2000s, in children's films such as The Princess Diaries (2001), its sequel The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement (2004), and the Shrek animated films (2004-2007). In 2005, Andrews made her debut as a stage director with a revival of The Boy Friend, in which she also made her Broadway acting debut in 1954.
She was married with Blake Edwards in 1965 until his death in 2010.

"Glory to the new-born King!
Peace on earth, and mercy mild,
God and sinners reconciled."
Joyful, all ye nations, rise,
Join the triumph of the skies;
With th' angelic host proclaim,
"Christ is born in Bethlehem."
"Glory to the new-born King!
Christ, by highest heaven adored:
Christ, the everlasting Lord;
Late in time behold him come,
Offspring of the favoured one.
Veiled in flesh, the Godhead see;
Hail, th'incarnate Deity:
Pleased, as man, with men to dwell,
Jesus, our Emmanuel!
Hark! the herald angels sing,
"Glory to the new-born King!
Hail! the heaven-born
Prince of peace!
Hail! the Son of Righteousness!
Light and life to all he brings,
Risen with healing in his wings
Mild he lays his glory by,
Born that man no more may die:
Born to raise the son of earth,
Born to give them second birth.
Hark! the herald angels sing,
"Glory to the new-born King !"
The song "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing" is based on the Gospel of Luke, the birth story of Jesus. The hymn is filled with symbolism and religious significance. The opening lines of the hymn call on the angels to sing out the good news of the birth of the new king, Jesus Christ. The words “Glory to the new-born King” emphasize that the birth of Jesus is a gift from God to the world.
In the second verse, the hymn emphasizes the divinity of Christ. The words “Christ, by highest heaven adored” remind believers that they worship a God who is almighty and powerful. The hymn goes on further to say that although God is omnipotent, he has humbled himself to enter into human life to save mankind from their sins. This selfless act of love is expressed through the lyrics “Veiled in flesh, the Godhead see”, which further emphasizes the divinity of Christ and his embodiment as a man.
The third verse of the hymn extolls Jesus as the prince of peace who comes to earth to bring light, life, and healing. His sacrifice on the cross brings salvation to the world and lifts them from earthly, sinful lives into eternal life. The term “Risen with healing in his wings” metaphorically refers to the wings of angels, as the savior carries away the sins of mankind.
