Julie Fader Lyrics

Somewhere far into
A recess of your mind
Draw a map to give to me
And if I find my way on my own
It’s meant to be
To be of one
It’s meant to be
Perplexed by you
My gratitude
Is obvious
Nevertheless
It’s buried away
Somewhere far into
A recess of your mind
Draw a map to give to me
And if I find my way on my own
It’s meant to be
To be of one
It’s meant to be
You with me
If you had told me
A year or two ago
I’d be this close to letting go
And saying so
I wouldn’t have believed you
The lyrics of Julie Fader's song "Maps" express a deep desire for connection and unity with someone else. The opening lines describe something hidden, deep in the recesses of the mind, which the singer yearns to uncover. They ask the other person to "draw a map to give to me," suggesting that the path to mutual understanding and closeness is not always clear or easy to navigate. However, even if the singer must find their own way, they believe that it is "meant to be" for them to come together with this person and be "of one."
Throughout the song, the singer expresses a sense of wonder and awe about the other person, admitting that they are "Perplexed" by them, but also showing gratitude for their presence in their life. The final lines express a sense of surprise and disbelief that this depth of feeling has developed between them: "If you had told me / A year or two ago / I'd be this close to letting go / And saying so / I wouldn't have believed you." The lyrics of "Maps" speak to the power of human connection to transform us and bring us closer to others, even when the way forward is not immediately clear.

This is one of my favorite songs. Has been ever since I heard it on Radio 3's website back in '09 or '10. Bought the vinyl. Keep up the great work Julie.
BTW, coming to you from a small town in Washington state across the Strait from Victoria. Canadian radio and Canadian's are awesome!
