Julienne Taylorโs enchanting and captivating voice raised comparisons with both Norah Jones and Eva Cassidy, but Julienne has her own unique and distinctive style influenced from her Scottish ancestry.
Julienneโs latest album, A Time For Love, a collection of original songs and new interpretations of love songs with a Celtic influence, has been accumulating impressive sales throughout S.E.Asia in 2009.
The musical journey of Julienne Taylor has been a long and winding road. Having played in various bands in her High School years and studied dance and expressive mime in Edinburgh with Kinny Gardner (Lindsay Kemp Company), Julienne was convinced by musician friends who had previously made the transition, that a move to London was the only way to seriously pursue a career in music. So at 17 years old she did just that..
'Home', somewhat strangely, for the first few months of her arrival in the capital was living out of a suitcase in student nurse accommodation in Guys Hospital, being signed in as a guest by nursing staff friends and 'changing' her name every other day to avoid detection.
A flat in an unsalubrious part of S.E.London, which she shared with former bandmembers from Scotland was to become a more permanent base with Julienne working by day and writing songs by night - soon discovering that success does not come suddenly. A spell of homelessness on London's streets was only to compound this further.
Subsequent years saw Julienne working at Shepperton Film Studios learning the craft of sound engineering whilst regularly singing six nights a week with blues and soul bands and lending her voice as a backing vocalist for established acts. Later, a serious car crash would lead Julienne to pursue a studio engineering career whilst still persevering with her own musical ambitions
In 2001, whilst working with an Edinburgh based independent label, and following a series of successful live performances at the Edinburgh Festival, Julienne was signed to Virgin Records. A delay in the release of her first album however, meant the momentum was lost and in a world of priorities, the album and Julienne slowly became misplaced in the shuffle.
Now happily signed to Evosound there will, no doubt be many more twists and turns on the long and winding road, but Julienne will take them all in her stride as her perseverance and talent are finally being rewarded with the growing success of her latest album and her live performances.
I Knew I Loved You

But some things you just don't question
Like in your eyes
I see my future in an instant
And there it goes
I think I've found my best friend
I know that it might sound more than a little crazy but I believe
I think I dreamed you into life
I knew I loved you before I met you
I have been waiting all my life
There's just no rhyme or reason
Only this sense of completion
And in your eyes
I see the missing pieces
I'm searching for
I think I've found my way home
I know that it might sound more than a little crazy but I believe
I knew I loved you before I met you
I think I dreamed you into life
I knew I loved you before I met you
I have been waiting all my life
I knew I loved you before I met you
I think I dreamed you into life
I knew I loved you before I met you
I have been waiting all my life
I knew I loved you before I met you
I think I dreamed you into life
I knew I loved you before I met you
I have been waiting all my life
In Julienne Taylor's song "I Knew I Loved You," the singer speaks about a deep intuition that they have been struck with. They feel that in their eyes, they see their future, and they have finally found their best friend. The singer explains that it might sound crazy, but they know they loved this person before they even met them. The sense of completeness that the singer feels is like a puzzle finally coming together and filling the missing piece.
The song explores the concept of "love at first sight," but it goes a step further by suggesting that the love was present before the physical meeting. The singer believes that they dreamed this person into life, which implies a kind of mystical or higher power that brought these two people together. The idea that one can feel such an intense connection before even meeting someone is both beautiful and somewhat perplexing. It suggests that there is a level of intimacy that exists beyond just physical attraction and conversation, but rather an unexplainable, deep-rooted knowing of each other.
