Julienne Taylor’s enchanting and captivating voice raised comparisons with both Norah Jones and Eva Cassidy, but Julienne has her own unique and distinctive style influenced from her Scottish ancestry.
Julienne’s latest album, A Time For Love, a collection of original songs and new interpretations of love songs with a Celtic influence, has been accumulating impressive sales throughout S.E.Asia in 2009.
The musical journey of Julienne Taylor has been a long and winding road. Having played in various bands in her High School years and studied dance and expressive mime in Edinburgh with Kinny Gardner (Lindsay Kemp Company), Julienne was convinced by musician friends who had previously made the transition, that a move to London was the only way to seriously pursue a career in music. So at 17 years old she did just that..
'Home', somewhat strangely, for the first few months of her arrival in the capital was living out of a suitcase in student nurse accommodation in Guys Hospital, being signed in as a guest by nursing staff friends and 'changing' her name every other day to avoid detection.
A flat in an unsalubrious part of S.E.London, which she shared with former bandmembers from Scotland was to become a more permanent base with Julienne working by day and writing songs by night - soon discovering that success does not come suddenly. A spell of homelessness on London's streets was only to compound this further.
Subsequent years saw Julienne working at Shepperton Film Studios learning the craft of sound engineering whilst regularly singing six nights a week with blues and soul bands and lending her voice as a backing vocalist for established acts. Later, a serious car crash would lead Julienne to pursue a studio engineering career whilst still persevering with her own musical ambitions
In 2001, whilst working with an Edinburgh based independent label, and following a series of successful live performances at the Edinburgh Festival, Julienne was signed to Virgin Records. A delay in the release of her first album however, meant the momentum was lost and in a world of priorities, the album and Julienne slowly became misplaced in the shuffle.
Now happily signed to Evosound there will, no doubt be many more twists and turns on the long and winding road, but Julienne will take them all in her stride as her perseverance and talent are finally being rewarded with the growing success of her latest album and her live performances.
Love Hurts

Love wounds, and marks,
Any heart, not tough,
Nor strong, enough
To take a lot of pain,
Take a lot of pain
Love is like a cloud
Holds a lot of rain
I知 young, I know,
But even so
I know a thing, or two
I致e learned, from you
I really learned a lot,
Really learned a lot
Love is like a stone
Burns you when it痴 hot
Love hurts
Some who live on happiness
Blissfulness, togetherness
Some who fool themselves I guess
But they池e not fooling me
I know it isn't true,
I know it isn't true
Love is just a lie,
Made to make you blue
Love hurts, ooh, ooh love hurts
Ooh, ooh love hurts
In the song "Love Hurts" by Julienne Taylor, the lyrics describe the emotional pain that often comes with love. Love is not always easy and fun, but can actually be painful and leave lasting wounds. The opening lines state that love scars, wounds, and marks any heart that is not tough enough to handle the pain that comes with it. Love can feel like a cloud that holds a lot of rain, meaning that it can build up and finally burst, releasing a lot of pent-up emotions. The chorus repeats the title phrase "love hurts" to drive home the message.
The second verse acknowledges the young age of the singer, but states that they still know a lot about love. They have learned from past experiences, likely with the person being addressed in the song, and these lessons have left scars just like love can. Love is compared to a stone that burns when it is hot, suggesting that it can be dangerous and harmful when things are not going well. The pre-chorus reminds listeners that some people are able to live in happiness and bliss in their relationships, but others are not so lucky. The singer is not fooled by those who try to put on a happy face when they are really hurting inside.
Overall, "Love Hurts" is a powerful song about the darker side of love. The lyrics show that love can be painful and cause lasting scars, even for those who are young and inexperienced. The song sends a message that it's important to acknowledge the pain and struggles that love can bring, rather than pretending everything is okay when it's not.
