Milonga
Julio Iglesias Lyrics

Milonga (medley)

Milonga pa’recordarte
milonga sentimental
otros se quejan llorando
yo canto pa’no llorar

Tu amor se secó de golpe
nunca dijiste por qué
yo me consuelo pensando
que fue traición de mujer

Varón, pa’quererte mucho
varón pa’desearte bien
varón pa’olvidar agravios
porque ya te perdoné

Tal vez no lo sepas nunca
tal vez no lo puedas creer
tal vez te provoque risa
verme tirado a tus pies

Es fácil pegar un tajo
pa’cobrar una traición
o jugar en una daga
la suerte de una pasión

Pero no es fácil cortarse
los tientos de un metejón
cuando están bien amarrados
al palo del corazón

Varón, pa’quererte mucho
varón pa’desearte bien
varón pa’olvidar agravios
porque ya te perdoné

Tal vez no lo sepas nunca
tal vez no lo puedas creer
tal vez te provoque risa
verme tirado a tus pies

Milonga que hizo tu ausencia
milonga de vocación
milonga para que nunca
la canten en tu balcón

Pa’que vuelvas con la noche
y te vayas con el sol
pa’decir que sí, a veces
y pa’gritarte que no

Varón, pa’quererte mucho
varón pa’desearte bien
varón pa’olvidar agravios
porque ya te perdoné

Tal vez no lo sepas nunca
tal vez no lo puedas creer
tal vez te provoque risa
verme tirado a tus pies

(SOLO)

Ay, varón, pa’quererte mucho
varón pa’quererte bien
varón pa’que tu me quieras
varón pa’ti mujer

Ay, varón, pa’quererte mucho
varón pa’quererte bien
varón pa’que tu me quieras
varón pa’ti mujer

Ay, varón, pa’quererte mucho
varón pa’quererte bien
varón pa’que tu me quieras
varón pa’ti mujer

Ay, varón, pa’quererte mucho
varón pa’quererte bien

varón pa’que tu me quieras
varón pa’ti mujer

Overall Meaning

The song Milonga by Julio Iglesias is a medley of three different Milongas. The lyrics speak of the pain of lost love and betrayal. The singer starts by singing about how he sings to keep himself from crying, while others complain about their heartbreak. He then speaks about how his love dried up suddenly, with no explanation given by his partner. He consoles himself by thinking that it must have been due to the betrayal of a woman.

The second verse talks about how difficult it is to move on and forget when one is hurt by someone they love. It is easy to seek revenge by hurting the other person or trying to make them jealous, but it is much harder to cut the bonds of love when they are tightly bound to one's heart. Despite all of this, the singer has forgiven the person who hurt him, though they may never know it.

The final verse talks about how the singer wrote this Milonga in honor of his lost love. He wants her to hear it, but only in her absence. He wishes for her to come back, but only for her to leave again when the sun rises. The song ends with repeated refrains about the singer's love for the person who hurt him, hoping that she might return his love.

Overall, the song is a poetic expression of the complexities of heartbreak and the difficulty of moving on from past love.
