Fragile
Julio Iglesias (Lead Guitar and Background Vocals by Sting) Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

If blood will flow when flesh and steel are one
Drying in the color of the evening sun
Tomorrow's rain will wash the stains away
But something in our minds will always stay

Perhaps this final act was meant
To clinch a lifetime's argument
That nothing comes from violence and nothing ever could

For all those born beneath an angry star
Least we forget how fragile we are

On and on the rain will fall
Like tears from a star
Like tears from a star
On and on the rain will say
How fragile we are
How fragile we are

On and on the rain will fall
Like tears from a star
Like tears from a star
On and on the rain will say
How fragile we are
How fragile we are

If blood will flow when flesh and steel are one
Drying in the color of the evening sun
Tomorrow's rain will wash the stains away
But something in our minds will always stay

On and on the rain will fall
Like tears from a star
Like tears from a star
On and on the rain will say
How fragile we are
How fragile we are

On and on the rain will fall
Like tears from a star
Like tears from a star
On and on the rain will say
How fragile we are
How fragile we are

On and on the rain will fall
Like tears from a star
Like tears from a star
On and on the rain will say

How fragile we are
How fragile we are

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Julio Iglesias’ “Fragile” poetically convey the idea that violence never leads to anything good, and the fragility of life is always present despite it all. The phrase “If blood will flow when flesh and steel are one” describes that when two opposing forces, such as humans and weaponry, collide, lives are lost. The next line “Drying in the color of the evening sun” implies that death and blood loss will always be present and visible even after the sun goes down. Despite the potential loss of life, Iglesias recognizes that “Tomorrow's rain will wash the stains away,” but the memory of these violent acts will always linger in our minds.

The song then moves onto the idea that perhaps these violent acts are necessary to finally convince people that nothing ever comes from it. Even though this final act might be able to bring people to understanding, the violent act itself was not necessary in the end. Iglesias then reminds us that we are all fragile, no matter where we come from, what we believe or how we behave. The rain in the song is a metaphor for life, reminding us that life is just as fragile as the raindrops falling from the sky.

Overall, “Fragile” by Julio Iglesias is a beautifully poignant song about the fragility of life and the uselessness of violence. It is a reminder to us all that we need to appreciate life and each other, knowing that we are all fragile and that tomorrow is never guaranteed.

Iglesias is not worth $650 million because he puts on a big flashy show.

His extraordinary artistic talent, his hypnotic voice are given in this post wwii era when
Feminazis and other Marxists have been working diligently
to indoctrinate all
that male and female genders are fluid and not real.

The long and lasting phenomenon of the God-given talent of Iglesias
is a potent reminder
that men and women are not the same...
and an invaluable testimony of
how much we who are (born
and identifying as )
women do need, value
and appreciate: romantic, manly men.

I've been listening to Julio for decades and I never get tired. There may be others who sing better, stronger and more powerful than him; but the softness, lightness, the poetic posture and ease with which he sings are unique. Not to mention his whisperred accent in the melody, which makes him at least for me, simply the best.
