Fučík spent most of his life as the leader of military brass bands. He was a prolific composer, with over 300 marches, polkas and waltzes to his name. As most of his work was for military bands he is sometimes known as the Bohemian Sousa.
Today his marches are still played as patriotic music in the Czech Republic. However his world wide reputation rests on one work, his opus 68 march the Entrance of the Gladiators (Vjezd gladiátorů), which is ubiquitously played as the theme tune of the clowns in a circus.

Imagine this:
You’re a gladiator, a fierce warrior with a body made for violence.
You’re just about to compete in the biggest fight of your life.
You hop in your chariot with weapon in hand, prepped and ready for battle.
The gates open, this tune starts playing. The adrenaline slowly rising. The audience on the edge of their seats.
You hear a small honk then it starts getting louder and louder. Just before your eyes, you see your opponent ride in not on a chariot, but in a small colorful car.
And once they step out, you realize you’re not dealing with just one…

Gladiator: "who am I fighting today"
This starts playing
Gladiator starts sweating "why do I hear boss music"
Suddenly a tiny chariot pulls up and 80 battle clowns fall out in full armor with massive circus hammers that squeak when they hit something
Gladiator: "oh no"
