Fučík spent most of his life as the leader of military brass bands. He was a prolific composer, with over 300 marches, polkas and waltzes to his name. As most of his work was for military bands he is sometimes known as the Bohemian Sousa.
Today his marches are still played as patriotic music in the Czech Republic. However his world wide reputation rests on one work, his opus 68 march the Entrance of the Gladiators (Vjezd gladiátorů), which is ubiquitously played as the theme tune of the clowns in a circus.

@CloneHat
I remember this piece. Our conductor would always be telling us: "FASTER! LOUDER!" This is a very fun march, even for the bassoon!

one of the best versions i´ve ever heared great dynamic and speed i love fucik

Fucik had some rather brilliant music, it's kind of a shame it's all overshadowed by Entrance of the Gladiators (despite that it's a brilliant as hell song). I'm a huge Sousa and Rickettes fan and a fan of marches in general, I'd love to be able to hear some more by this man.

Ricketts other name is Kenneth J. Alford. Britain's greatest. Sousa great also.
@bisquitsrus
Finally a march that gives the third trumpets a damn good part. Or at least the arrangement our band is playing does.

Marvellous composer. Great performance of the march.
@Kramttin
One of the most beautiful marches in the world..! <3
