Movin' was hot but I got squared away
Bells started ringin and chains rattled loud
I knew I'd moved in a haunted house
Still I made up in my mind to stay
Nothin' was a gonna drive me away
When I seen somethin' that gave me the creep
I stood right still and I did the freeze
And he did the stroll right up to me
Made a sound with his feet like a drum
Sayin' you'll be here when the mornin' comes
Say yes I'll be here when the mornin' comes
I'll be right here and I ain't gonna run
I bought this house now you know I'm boss
Ain't no haint gonna run me off
In the kitchen my stove was a blazin' hot
The coffee was a boilin' in the pot
The grease had melted in my pan
I had a hunk of meet in my hand
From out of space there sat a man
On a hot stove was pots and pans
Say that's hot I began to shout
He drank a hot coffee from the spout
He ate the raw meat right from my hand
Drank the hot grease from the fryin' pan
He said to me now you better run
And don't be here when the mornin' comes
Say yes I'll be here when the mornin' comes
I'll be right here and I ain't gonna run
I bought this house now you know I'm boss...
The lyrics of "Haunted House" by Jumpin' Gene Simmons tell a story of a man who has just moved into a new house which turns out to be haunted. Although he experiences strange occurrences such as ringing bells and rattling chains, he decides to stay, determined not to let any ghosts drive him away. However, his courage is tested when he encounters a strange creature with one big eye and two big feet. Although the man freezes with fear, the creature approaches him and warns him to leave before morning comes.
The singer of the song shows unwavering courage in the face of terrifying events. He refused to be driven out of his new home by ghosts and even confronts an extraterrestrial creature that appears in his kitchen. The lyrics seem to suggest that the man is determined to be the master of his own domain, and no paranormal activity will deter him from claiming ownership of his new home.
Interestingly, the song's upbeat rockabilly sound contrasts with the spooky lyrics, creating a unique listening experience. "Haunted House" by Jumpin' Gene Simmons became a hit in 1964 and remains popular with fans of rockabilly music.

That's wonderful.

This is pretty rare. When the "Haunted House" LP was first issued by Hi Records in 1964, first pressings contain the song in fake electronic stereo, while second pressings contain the song in true stereo. The album fell out of print by the late 60's, so if anyone finds a stereo copy of this album, make sure you listen with headphones to notice that you have a second pressing that has the song in true stereo.

First heard this song when I was 5 or 6. Had no idea the guy was still alive at the time, and he was only in his 60's back then! It's one of those songs along with "Purple People Eater," "Monster Mash," and "Ghostbusters" that was on every Halloween party CD at the time.
