Their first album, "Straight Out the Jungle", was released on an independent label and featured a hip hop/house collaboration "I'll House You" produced by Todd Terry. In spite of the commercial failure of Straight Out the Jungle, Warner Brothers Records soon signed the group and released "Done By the Forces of Nature" in 1989. The album was a critical smash at the time, though it has since been largely ignored by hip hop critics, due to the similarly acclaimed fusion of jazz and rap "3 Feet High and Rising" by De La Soul being released the same year. Following a four year break, the Jungle Brothers returned in 1993 with "J Beez Wit the Remedy", another commercial disappointment. Their next album, "V.I.P." was produced by Alex Gifford of Propellerheads and, during production, they found time to add their vocal stylings to the Propellerheads tracks "Take California (And Party)" and "You Want It Back". In 2002 they released "All That We Do". In 2005, the Jungle Brothers released a "greatest hits" and "classic remixes & rarities" double-CD entitled "This Is…", which included remixes by The Wiseguys, Urban Takeover, Natural Born Chillers and Stereo MCs.
Kool Accordin' "2" a Jungle Brother
Jungle Brothers Lyrics

So I looked in the mirror and patted him on his back
Now I don't play when I do my thing
But ya better call the Kangaroos if I start to sing
I've got plenty moves eyes open or eyes closed
But my best move baby is when I blow my nose
Afrika, my brother, he lets loose when he lets go When the braids are in kool braids, out GI Afro kool recess
Layin' up on an island buck-naked hangin' loose
A nice cold wooden bowl of freshly squeezed orange juice
I started to sweat now that was hard to believe
So I stood up for a minute to catch that
5:15 breeze, while I was up I figured
You know, I stroll over by the stream
Jump in and kool off from that burnin' hot sunbeam
Water from the river rushin' up my family jewels
Now that's kool
The lyrics to Jungle Brothers' song Kool Accordin' "2" A Jungle Brother are about a smooth and cool brother, who can sing and dance with ease. The singer praises this brother's ability and then goes on to state that he himself doesn't play when he does his thing, but if he starts singing, then he is as good as any Kangaroo. The singer goes on to boast about his moves and how his best move is when he blows his nose. He also mentions his brother's ability to let loose when he wants to and goes on to describe his cool look during that time with braids, an afro, etc. The final verse describes the singer hanging out on an island, enjoying some freshly squeezed orange juice and cooling off in the river to escape the burning hot sun.
The song is filled with references to being cool, with the singer and his brother embodying it in their own unique ways. The lyrics show the confidence of the singer in his abilities, especially when it comes to his music and dancing. The final verse also shows a desire to break away and cool off from the daily hustle and bustle, making the song relatable to listeners who also desire to take a break from their daily routine.
