Out Of My Head
Junkhouse Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

i've been wasted
I've been drowned in your arms
I can't run
Both legs broken on the ground
I paint her face on every wall
I shout her name down empty halls

and I'm going right out, right out of my head
going right out, right out of my head
going right out, right out of my head
going right out, right out of my head

I've been here
Lies doesn't it take for a woman
But change your oil
and finally brakes
the words we use
and chosen few
The question risen
what are we ta' do?

and I'm going right out, right out of my head
going right out, right out of my head
going right out, right out of my head
going right out, right out of my head

alright!

In the night time
We have time and grime to talk
And green wash
Lazy neighbours drivin' down your car
I been your face
I seen to your house
I want to say
Just shut your mouth

and I'm going right out, right out of my head
going right out, right out of my head
going right out, right out of my head
going right out, right out of my head

going right out, right out of my head
(until fade)

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Junkhouse's "Out Of My Head" speak to the intense feelings and thoughts that come with being infatuated with someone. The song's opening lines describe someone who has become "wasted" and "drowned" in the arms of someone they love. They are so consumed by their emotions that they can't even run, as both legs are "broken on the ground." This person's obsession with their love interest is made clear as they "paint her face on every wall" and "shout her name down empty halls."

As the song progresses, the lyrics touch on the ways in which we try to distract ourselves from our feelings. The lines "lies doesn't it take for a woman / but change your oil / and finally brakes" suggest that we turn to mundane tasks, like changing the oil in our car, as a way of coping. However, these distractions only go so far. The chorus repeats the idea that the singer is "going right out" of their head, suggesting they are losing control of their thoughts and emotions.

The final verse of the song is more confrontational in tone. The singer has clearly had enough of someone they know and exclaims "just shut your mouth." The song ends with the repeated chorus, further emphasizing the idea that the singer is losing their grip on reality.

Overall, "Out Of My Head" paints a vivid picture of what it's like to be consumed by feelings of infatuation and obsession. The lyrics touch on the ways in which we try to distract ourselves from these feelings, but ultimately suggest that we may never be able to fully escape them.

Hearing the sad news about Russ I burst into tears because he was a damn good guitar player and their music made me smile I used to listen to junk house a lot back in the 90s I would play my one cassette tape and I would borrow a lot of the tapes from the Sherwood Library and I would listen to them constantly until I was able to afford to buy one I wore out my cassette tape until it broke rest in peace Russ

Love Tom Wilson, The Florida Razors, Blackie and the Rodeo Kings....I would love to see Junkhouse together performing these tunes again. There never was a falling out or anything, just went their own way.
