Mizu-Iro No Ame
Junko Yagami Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Junko Yagami's song "Mizuiro No Ame" describe a bittersweet memory of a rainy day spent waiting for someone who is late. The singer is at a familiar store with an old photo in hand, waiting for someone they love. It is revealed that this someone is late and the singer becomes reflective, reminiscing on the first time they met and how they were always captivated by their presence. The singer admits that although this person has changed over time, they still believe in the dreams they shared together and have never given up on them.

The use of rain in the song serves to create a melancholic atmosphere and also signals the passage of time. The familiarity of the city corner is highlighted but made to feel new with the presence of the person they love. The final lines reveal that the singer is no longer with this person despite their love for them, and the rain serves as a reminder of those missed opportunities and unfulfilled dreams. The song is a poignant reminder of the fleeting nature of time and the importance of holding onto one's dreams and the people that make them worthwhile.

“Water color of rain (Light blue of Rain)”(MIZUIRO NO AME) Junko Yagami
※Lyrics: Yoshiko Miura / Composer: Junko Yagami / Arranger: Masaaki Omura

(Rough lyrics translations)

Ah Water color of rain (mizuiro no ame)
The rain continues to fall as if hugging my shoulders.
Ah, everything should be gone.
The love between two of us should be swept away without leaving anything behind.

You were kind
You pretended not to notice my betrayal behavior.
Until a temporary whim passes
Forget it, forget it, you loved me.

Ah Water color of rain
The rain continues to fall as if hugging my shoulders.
Ah, forget all that.
The love between two of us should be swept away without leaving anything behind.

If you had said something condemning me, I might have listened to you honestly.
Remembering the good old days when we were just smiling
Cause you were hurting, you had sad eyes.
We can't be with that day anymore.

Ah Water color of rain
The rain continues to fall as if hugging my shoulders.
Ah, everything should be gone.
The love between two of us should be swept away without leaving anything behind.
