If you were close enough and knew me well, you would be able to tell how I'm feeling without guessing.

It's kind of hard to forget what some brothers have done
Some people have wronged me or my group in the past and it's difficult to completely forget or move on.

But my mother always said you can forgive and forget
I've been taught to forgive and move on from past hurts, and I try to follow that advice.

I know that many promises made to me won't actually be fulfilled or kept.

I guess I gave credit where it wasn't deserved
I've credited people in the past who didn't actually deserve it or contribute to my success.
