In 1989, Silveira left Salvador for São Paulo and now lives in Rio de Janeiro. Jussara's rendition for Caetano Veloso's "Dama do Cassino" (included in the compilation CD “Elas Cantam Caetano”) was included in the soundtrack of the soap opera “Irmãos Coragem” and reached the Top Ten on Brazilian radio.
Winning the “Copene de Cultura e Arte Prize” in 1996, Silveira recorded her first independent CD, Jussara Silveira. Extremely well received by critics, the album launched her recording career. The album was re-released in the next year by Dubas Music label.
Her second album, Canções de Caymmi, was also praised by critics. On this work, Jussara, backed by some of the best musicians in Brazil, balances some of the most widely known Caymmi's hits with less successful compositions, which also have superior musical qualities, like the haunting, mysterious "O Vento."
In her next album Jussara gives a voice to emerging composers and also explores little-known pieces by veterans such as Chico Buarque, Jorge Ben Jor, and Tom Zé.
Both Nobreza and Entre o amor e o mar were released by Maianga Discos in 2006. Nobreza is the result of her musical partnership whith Luiz Brazil presenting a sophisticated voice-and-guitar duet. Entre o amor e o mar is a record rich in songs about love and the sea.
In 2009, the independent label Biscoito fino/Quitanda released the DVD/CD Tres meninas do Brasil - a special project that presents Jussara Silveira with Rita Ribeiro and Teresa Cristina, directed by the well-known Brazilian musician Jaime Alem, who has been Maria Bethânia partner for 2 decades.

Ela me disse
Que estava apaixonada por mim
Daquele jeito de dizer
Desconfiei que a qualquer momento
Poderia ser o fim
Mas me deixei levar
Sem medo de andar
Pelo céu
Até que um belo dia
Finda a poesia
O que foi que restou
Nada
O meu jeito mais vivo
Tende ao infinito
Ela roubou de mim
O meu jeito mais vivo
Tende ao infinito
Ela roubou de mim
Até não dá pé
Essa mulher
Assim vou me afogar
Voltei a pé, deixei ela
Seguir pra onde quisesse
Essa moça
Até não dá pé
Essa mulher
Assim vou me afogar
Voltei a pé, deixei ela
Seguir pra onde quisesse
Essa moça
Como se não fosse nada
Ela me disse
Que estava apaixonada por mim
Daquele jeito de dizer
Desconfiei que a qualquer momento
Poderia ser o fim
Mas me deixei levar
E fui me enamorar
Sem medo de andar
Pelo céu
Até que um belo dia
Finda a poesia
O que restou de mim
Nada
O meu jeito mais vivo
Tende ao infinito
Ela roubou de mim
Com ela
O meu jeito mais vivo
Tende ao infinito
Ela roubou de mim
Até não dá pé
Essa mulher
Assim vou me afogar
Voltei a pé
Deixei ela
Seguir pra onde quisesse
Essa moça
Até não dá pé
Essa mulher
Assim vou me afogar
Voltei a pé
Deixei ela
Seguir pra onde quisesse
Essa moça
Essa moça, essa moça
Essa moça, essa moça
Essa moça, essa moça
Essa moça, essa moça
Até não dá pé
Essa mulher
Assim vou me afogar
Voltei a pé, deixei ela
Seguir pra onde quisesse
Essa moça
Até não dá pé
Essa mulher
Assim vou me afogar
Voltei a pé, deixei ela
Seguir pra onde quisesse
Essa moça
The lyrics to Jussara Silveira's song "Essa Moça" describe a one-sided love affair. The singer tells the story of a woman who confesses her love to him, and despite his skepticism, he falls in love with her. The relationship appears to be going well, with the singer walking fearlessly through the heavens with his newfound love. However, one day the poetry ends, and there's nothing left. The singer feels like the woman has stolen his most vibrant self, and he can't handle it. He leaves her to go wherever she wants and accepts that drowning is the only way out.
The lyrics are emotional and describe the ups and downs of a relationship. It seems like the singer was taken aback by the strong feelings the woman had for him and couldn't help but feel the same way. However, as with many relationships, the spark that drew them to each other eventually fades, and there's nothing left.
Overall, the song tells a story of a brief yet intense love affair that didn't end well. It's a cautionary tale of falling in love too quickly and blindly, as it may lead to nothing but heartache.
