Just Friends Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Walk around the town like that
Walk around I put the town on my back
Walk around you hear the sound cuz it smacks
Stupid mothafucka whatchu think about that

Bay Area we up now (RAIDERS)
See my dance when I touch down
I'm in the black hole stupid, you know that we do this
We got the sound that's got everybody movin'

WE BRING THE

S-T-U-P-I-D (X3)
GET STUPID
S-T-U-P-I-D (X3)

Walk around the town like that
Telegraph Ave for my six A's caps
You know when they play Mac Dre we'll be throwin' up the T's left field at the game

Thirty with the shot
Coke white vans gottem straight out the box
JF with the funk
J Rich with the dunk
I just want a car with some slaps in the trunk

S-T-U-P-I-D (X8)

WE BRING THE
Bay Area around the world

Overall Meaning

The song Stupid by Just Friends is a fun, upbeat track that celebrates their hometown of the Bay Area, California. The lyrics speak to the pride they feel for their city, which they exude as they walk around town "like that" with the "town on [their] back." The energy they bring is palpable and "smacks," making them feel invincible. The chorus repeats the word "stupid" numerous times, which can be interpreted in a few different ways. On the one hand, it can be seen as a way to describe something that is so good, it's almost unbelievable, like a stupidly delicious meal or an unbelievably fun night out. On the other hand, it could be interpreted more literally as a way to describe someone who is acting foolish, reckless, or careless. Either way, the word is used in a celebratory manner, indicating that the group is proud to be doing what they're doing and in the way they're doing it.

The lyrics also reference several aspects of Bay Area culture, from their love of the Raiders football team to the music of Mac Dre. The mention of Telegraph Ave and six A's caps speaks to the significance of streetwear and fashion in the Bay. JF and J Rich, presumably members of the band, are also name-dropped as sources of "funk" and "dunk," respectively. The song is an ode to the unique and vibrant culture of the Bay, which the band is proud to represent and share with the world.

Fabulous Killjoy

@DirkDinkley just realized this was probably my first interaction with you lol

Gabe Vialpando

@Fabulous Killjoy definitely not, not a big fan of real friends. But honestly not a big fan of Just Friends new vibe, preferred their older emotional stuff. Newer stuff ain't bad but just weird for a band to just flip genres. Still jam their older stuff most the time
