Born in North London, Jack grew up on a diet of dance music including, break dance, electro hip hop and house. A wannabe break dancer at eight, his love of dance music led him to start DJing at the age of fifteen and he soon became submerged in DJ culture and US garage.
After completing a degree in Furniture Design Jack enrolled on a community music production course, which heightened his awareness to the potential of sampling. This inspired Jack to concentrate on perfecting his sound by night and to take on a series of unfulfilling jobs by day.
"I've been a washer upper, a flower arranger, a runner for a TV post production company... I even worked at Gap for while. That made me all the more determined to work at the music. I would get this down time in a studio and be recording all night, and working at Gap all day. It was knackering but it was very inspiring time."
Jack's debut album, 'The Outer Marker' is a collection of songs about modern life, relationships and the pressures of social situations. Originally released by the independent label RG Records, Just Jack's debut album 'The Outer Marker' received fantastic reviews. 'The Independent' described it as "impressive", Q said, "masterful", the 'NME' said "Awesome. Welcome Just Jack, you rule!", and 'The Big Issue' saluted Jack as "The new troubadour of daily life in the UK".
"The Outer Marker" has recently been re-packaged and re-released and now includes extra tracks and the video for 'Snowflakes'. It has been receiving plenty of airplay and remixes from the likes of Aphrodite and a famous Cure bootleg of 'Snowflakes' is now thrusting Just Jack into the limelight.
Recently, Jack and his band played his third ever gig to a great crowd at the Glastonbury Dance Tent and he will be performing at the V Festivals later this summer.
Jack Allsopp on Just Jack:
"I never had heroes and never wanted to be like other musicians", he says. "I have no affiliations to anyone, I'm not part of a gang, I'm not a part of a scene and I don't have a sound that's obviously a part of a scene. I'm Just Jack."

Snapshot Memories
Just Jack Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Well I'm a secret lemonade drinker a free thinker
I stay focused but not blinkered
And these snapshot memories in my mind
Legacies from another time
And I find
That as the days pass the colours fade
[Part II]
Grazed knees, page three's
BMX, Atari's
Dayglo, Velcro
Yoyo's, Beano's
Hip hop, don't stop
Starwars figures, football stickers
Cola bottles, Jerry Cottles
Fat laces, dirty faces
Kiss chases, Wacky Races
Herbie Hancock, Kurtis Blow
Roxanne Shanté, UFO
Hip hop
Don't stop
[Part III]
Everything's in slow motion
Hands in the air
Sweat flying everywhere
But we don't care
Well you could try to fight the feeling
But I can't see the use
There's so much love in this room
And yes its all drug induced
Can't remember who I am
Or what I'm doing here
But at the same time
In my mind
Everything is clear
No fear and no drama
It's all good karma
And I never can forget
The night before the morning after
[CHORUS]
Sun up to sun down
Come up to come down
Just waiting for Friday to come around
Sun rise to sun set
How high can we get
Monday morning and none of us have slept yet
Well there's more to life than this
Of that I'm fully aware
But there's nothing more intense
Than crazy nights we shared
We got bass for the body
Chemicals for the head
Every day lives
Were like a skin we shed
Well you could try to fight the feeling
But I can't see the use
There's so much love in this room
Of that we're living proof
You could try to fight the feeling
But I can't see the use
It's a shame that in the end
It was all drug induced
[CHORUS x2]
[Part IV]
Even as I watch you
All the rest seems to disappear
You pull me in with your tractor beams
And wrap me up in your wicked schemes
My Sunday morning eyes observe
Your Cadbury's skin uncurve
And in tronic patterned Venetian light
You moonwalk to the bathroom
Well you move across my space without friction
You're so unbelievable you must be fiction
Or perhaps a premonition
But as I listen
I hear your footfall softly
And all my troubles fall away from me
So easily
But so slowly
[Part V]
All these memories in my mind
I'm still a secret lemonade drinker
The song "Snapshot Memories" by Just Jack is a nostalgic trip down memory lane, with the singer reflecting on cherished memories from his childhood and youth. Part I of the song sets the tone with the line "snapshot memories in my mind, legacies from another time," describing how the memories have become fixed and frozen in time, staying with the singer long past their expiration date. The singer acknowledges that as the days pass, the colors of the memories may fade, but the images remain vivid and timeless.
Part II lists various elements of the singer's youth, from BMX bikes to football stickers and Wacky Races, creating a vibrant picture of his formative years. Part III then turns to more adult memories, describing a night of drug-induced euphoria and carefree abandon. The chorus reflects the cyclical nature of life, the constant waiting for the next hill to climb or the next high to chase. Finally, Part IV describes the singer's attraction to a person who seems to dissolve away all other troubles and worries, with just their captivating presence.
Ultimately, "Snapshot Memories" is a song about the beauty and importance of memories, from childhood to adulthood, and how they shape who we are. The singer acknowledges the role of nostalgia in shaping his view of the world and how his past influences his present. The song presents a longing for simpler times, but also a sense of optimism and appreciation for the present.

But we don't care
However, we are not concerned about it
Well you could try to fight the feeling
It is possible to resist the strong emotions I am experiencing
But I can't see the use
However, I see no point in doing so
There's so much love in this room
There is a lot of positive energy and caring present
And yes its all drug induced
However, some of this is because of the influence of substances
Can't remember who I am
I do not have a clear sense of my identity
Or what I'm doing here
Or what I am supposed to be doing with my life
But at the same time
However, simultaneously
In my mind
I have a clear understanding of certain things
Everything is clear
It is all understandable and makes sense
No fear and no drama
I am free from any sense of fear or conflict
It's all good karma
It all seems positive and in balance with the universe
And I never can forget
I will always remember
The night before the morning after
The experiences of the previous night and the consequences of it
Sun up to sun down
From dawn to dusk
Come up to come down
Rising and falling in terms of emotional state
Just waiting for Friday to come around
Anticipating the end of the work or school week
Sun rise to sun set
From sunrise to sunset
How high can we get
To what degree can we feel euphoria or achieve a sense of escape
Monday morning and none of us have slept yet
It is now the beginning of the work or school week and we have not yet rested
Well there's more to life than this
There are other things to experience and consider beyond these temporary pleasures
Of that I'm fully aware
I am conscious of this fact
But there's nothing more intense
However, there is nothing quite like these experiences
Than crazy nights we shared
Than the wild and intense nights spent together
We got bass for the body
The music has a strong physical effect
Chemicals for the head
The substances we consume have a powerful mental effect
Every day lives
Our ordinary lives
Were like a skin we shed
Were like layers we could remove and escape from
Of that we're living proof
Our current state of being is evidence of this
You could try to fight the feeling
It is possible to resist the strong emotions I am experiencing
It's a shame that in the end
However, it is unfortunate that ultimately
It was all drug induced
These experiences were all influenced by substances
Even as I watch you
As I observe you
All the rest seems to disappear
Everything else fades away from my awareness
You pull me in with your tractor beams
You attract and captivate me with your energy
And wrap me up in your wicked schemes
You involve me in your mysterious and alluring plans
My Sunday morning eyes observe
I watch with a certain type of awareness
Your Cadbury's skin uncurve
Your skin looks especially smooth and soft
And in tronic patterned Venetian light
In a colorful and vibrant type of light
You moonwalk to the bathroom
You move in a way that resembles Michael Jackson's moonwalk dance to go to the bathroom
Well you move across my space without friction
You move around me easily and smoothly
You're so unbelievable you must be fiction
You are so extraordinary that it seems like you cannot be real
Or perhaps a premonition
Or maybe you are a vision of things to come
But as I listen
However, as I pay attention
I hear your footfall softly
I hear your footsteps softly
And all my troubles fall away from me
And all of my problems suddenly seem less important
So easily
It happens without effort or resistance
But so slowly
It seems to take a long time, though it is brief
