Send all we have
Send all of them
'Cos they're all we have
But, please come home
Don't dare die
Say all is well
That they dropped the shell
It went off today
But, please come home
Don't dare die
Please come home
Don't dare die
Always hangin' on my mind
Try to keep inside
Always hangin' on my mind
You said you had to go
Where to you don't know
I know you had to go
But, please come home
Don't dare die
Please come home
Don't dare die
Say all is well...
The song "Her Story" by Just Jinger is a poignant depiction of a soldier's wife or partner who waits anxiously for her loved one to return home from war. The opening lines of the song, "Send all the men, Send all we have, Send all of them, 'Cos they're all we have," suggest that the woman is surrounded by other women who are in the same position of waiting for their soldiers to come back. Despite the anxiety and uncertainty, the woman pleads with her partner to stay alive: "But, please come home, Don't dare die, Say all is well."
The next line, " 'Cos I heard them say, That they dropped the shell, It went off today," adds to the tension and fear that the woman is feeling. She is likely referring to a bomb explosion or attack, and fears that her partner may have been affected. However, she continues to hold hope and begs for her partner to stay alive: "Please come home, Don't dare die."
The middle section of the song seems to focus on the woman's internal struggle with her partner's absence. She is constantly thinking of them and trying to suppress her anxiety: "Always hangin' on my mind, Try to keep inside, Always hangin' on my mind." The final passage returns to the woman's plea for her partner to come home safely: "But, please come home, Don't dare die, Please come home, Don't dare die, Say all is well."
