Born and raised in Tennessee, as a child he appeared on the television shows Star Search and The All-New Mickey Mouse Club. In the late 1990s, Timberlake rose to prominence as one of the two lead vocalists and youngest member of NSYNC, which eventually became one of the best-selling boy bands of all time. Timberlake won two Grammy Awards for his R&B-focused debut solo album Justified (2002) and its single "Cry Me a River". Another single from the album, "Rock Your Body", was also successful.
His critically acclaimed second album FutureSex/LoveSounds (2006), characterized by its diversity in music genres, debuted atop the U.S. Billboard 200 and spawned the Hot 100 consecutive number-one singles with "SexyBack", "My Love" and "What Goes Around... Comes Around". Established as a solo artist worldwide, his first two albums both exceeded sales of 10 million copies, as he continued producing records and collaborating with other artists.
From 2008 through 2012, Timberlake focused on his acting career, effectively putting his music career on hiatus. He held starring roles in the films The Social Network, Bad Teacher, Friends with Benefits, and In Time.
Timberlake resumed his music career in 2013 with his third and fourth albums The 20/20 Experience and The 20/20 Experience - 2 of 2, exploring neo soul styles, partly inspired by the expansive song structures of 1960s and 1970s rock. The former became the best-selling album of the year and spawned the top three singles "Suit & Tie" and "Mirrors". Timberlake voiced Branch in DreamWorks Animation's Trolls (2016), whose soundtrack includes his fifth Billboard Hot 100 chart-topping single, "Can't Stop the Feeling!", which earned him an Academy Award nomination. His fifth studio album Man of the Woods (2018) became his fourth number-one album in the US. Supported by the two top ten singles, "Filthy" and "Say Something", it concluded 2018 as the sixth best-selling album of the year.
Electric Lady
Justin Timberlake Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Should I turn off or maybe leave on the light?
Maybe leave on the light?
Maybe leave on the light?
Uh, uh, uh, electric lady
Oh my, you're skippin' my heart
Kissin' the dark with your brightening eyes
And you got the power
You're damn right it's life or death
Not gonna make it if we don't connect tonight (right)
Strike twice all night
Body moves like waves
You're reaching my heart fast
You're searching for something
That's just how electricity behaves
'nd I been needin' it so bad
The other ones don't last
Wait a minute, I feel a charge
I should've known how you glow in the dark
You turn it on and I touch you till it sparks
Electric lady (ooh)
Wait a minute, until it drops
I feel a jump, we get closer till we shock
You turn it on and I touch you till it sparks
Electric lady
Love won't die, running low
But girl, your love won't die
So what you're giving me girl all that energy
Give it here, you know how it goes sometimes
Love won't die, running low
But girl, your love won't die
But if you need any girl, I got energy
Come and get it, you know how it goes sometimes
Sometimes, I need a little (more)
Give a little, if I get a little
And we could meet place, about the middle tonight
And you got the power
Baby you know if you're ever low
I will go lower and bring you back into the light
Strike twice all night
Body moves like waves
You're reaching my heart fast
You're searching for something
That's just how electricity behaves
'nd I been needin' it so bad
The other ones don't last
Wait a minute, I feel a charge
I should've known how you glow in the dark
You turn it on and I touch you till it sparks
Electric lady (ooh)
Wait a minute, until it drops
I feel a jump, we get closer till we shock
You turn it on and I touch you till it sparks
Electric lady
What's your suggestion for the night
Should I turn off or maybe leave on the light?

In the song Electric Lady by Justin Timberlake, he's exploring the idea of a powerful, electric connection between two people. He begins by asking what his partner suggests they do for the night, whether to turn off or leave on the light. This question can be understood as a metaphor for deciding whether to proceed with caution or dive into a passionate relationship. He describes how the electric lady ignites passion and sparks fires in him all night, emphasizing the power of their connection.
Throughout the song, Justin repeats the idea of electrical behavior, comparing his connection with his partner to waves of electricity that flow through their bodies. He suggests that this electric energy between them is so intense that it has the power to bring them back into the light when they may be feeling low. The chorus repeats the idea of feeling a charge and turning on sparks, highlighting the physical and emotional intensity of their connection.
The lyrics in this song are sensual and contain sexual references. Justin Timberlake is showcasing his vocal range, and the song has a very catchy beat. The song has a retro feel to it with its synth-heavy beats and groovy bass-line. The song has drawn comparisons to Michael Jackson's music.

on Want You To Know
Sound's a calm, when we become the animals that we're made in the jungle
Why you staying so far away?
Running men is looking on, why
Why don't you come out to play
And get closer to your animal, inside
Baby I act like the gentleman that your mother would love, ooh get to me
Baby you act like a lady, don't have to cover it up, things you wanna show me
Make me remember the reason why I wanted to love, please be slowly
I think you're ready to try, walk a little closer and
Now take me to your jungle, I'm not afraid
And if you're looking for your animal, hop in my cage
Fall in a terror of height, don't talk
Come in, come in, baby what I don't know, I want
Come in, come in, baby what I don't know, I want
Come in, come in, baby what I don't know, I want
Come in, come in, baby what I don't know, don't know, I want
Come in, come in, baby what I don't know, I want
Show me your t-shirt, and sweat your sling
Down and dirty, you're loving me so loud
Play it breeze, but you wild as a strain
Side show in front of the whole crowd
