Losing My Way
Justin Timberlake Lyrics

Hey, excuse me

Hi, my name is Bob, and I work at my job
I make forty-something dollars a day
I used to be the man in my hometown
Till I started to lose my way

It all goes back to when I dropped out of school
Having fun, I was living the life
But now I got a problem with that little white rock
See, I can't put down the pipe

And it's breaking me down
Watching the world spin 'round
While my dreams fall down
Is anybody out there?

It is breaking me down
No more friends around
And my dreams fall down
Is anybody out there?

Can anybody out there hear me?
'Cause I can't seem to hear myself
Can anybody out there see me?
'Cause I can't seem to see myself
There's gotta be a heaven somewhere
Can you save me from this hell?
Can anybody out there feel me?
'Cause I can't seem to feel myself

Losing my way
Keep losing my way
Keep losing my way
Can you help me find my way?
Losing my way
Keep losing my way
Keep losing my way
Can you help me find my way?

Now you gotta understand I was a family man
I would have done anything for my own
But I couldn't get a grip on my new found itch
So I ended up all alone
I remember where I was when I got my first buzz
See, I thought I was living the life
And the craziest thing is
I'll probably never know the color of my daughter's eyes

And it is breaking me down
Watching the world spin 'round
While my dreams fall down
Is anybody out there?

It is breaking me down
No more friend around
And my dreams fall down
Is anybody out there?

Can anybody out there hear me?
'Cause I can't seem to hear myself
Can anybody out there see me?
'Cause I can't seem to see myself
There's gotta be a heaven somewhere
Can you save me from this hell?
Can anybody out there feel me?
'Cause I can't seem to feel myself

Losing my way
Keep losing my way
Keep losing my way
Can you help me find my way?
Losing my way
Keep losing my way
Keep losing my way
Can you help me find my way?

Oh my god, please forgive me
(Father, hear my prayer)
'Cause I know I've done some wrong in this life
If I could do it all again
Have just one more chance
To take all those wrongs and make them right

Can anybody out there hear me?
'Cause I can't seem to hear myself
Can anybody out there see me?
'Cause I can't seem to see myself
There's gotta be a heaven somewhere
Can you save me from this hell?
Can anybody out there feel me?
'Cause I can't seem to feel myself

Can anybody out there hear me?
'Cause I can't seem to hear myself
Can anybody out there see me?
'Cause I can't seem to see myself
There's gotta be a heaven somewhere
Can you save me from this hell?
Can anybody out there feel me?
'Cause I can't seem to feel myself

Losing my way
Keep losing my way
Keep losing my way
Can you help me find my way?
Losing my way
Keep losing my way

Keep losing my way
Can you help me find my way?

Overall Meaning

The song, "Losing My Way" by Justin Timberlake is a tragic tale of a man named Bob who once had it all – a great job, a family, and the respect of his hometown. However, he fell into the grips of addiction, particularly crack cocaine, which ultimately led him down a path of self-destruction. Throughout the song, Bob laments his addiction and how it has taken over his life. He is no longer able to work, he has lost all his friends, and he can't even recognize his own daughter.

Bob's addiction has left him feeling lost and alone, which is reflected in the repeated refrain of "losing my way." He is crying out for help, desperately searching for someone who can hear him, see him, or feel his pain. But he is equally unable to hear, see, or feel himself. He recognizes that he has done wrong in his life and asks for forgiveness, hoping for another chance to make things right.

The song is a powerful commentary on addiction and the toll it can take on a person's life. It provides a glimpse into the mindset of someone struggling with addiction, highlighting the sense of hopelessness, isolation, and despair they feel. The haunting melody and lyrics convey the stark reality of the situation, making it clear that there are real people behind these struggles.

Soo happy for u ❤️💜 , but can I ask what was your addiction. Alcohol or drugs maybe both..

Lauren

Your story hits my here ❤️ my my mom was addicted to drugs for a long time and I hated her for it. But I was young and I didn’t understand how addiction works. She’s been clean for over 10 years now. I don’t know you but I am so proud of you!

My uncle passed away in 2015 due to a heroin overdose. I’ve never heard this song before, but it played at his funeral while showing pictures of him and my family. Right as he said “there’s gotta be a heaven out there somewhere” a picture of him and I when i was a new born came up. I was his first niece. He loved me so much and i loved him… come back to this song sometimes to just…feel him sometimes. miss you Taber. I love you

IRON FIST

Your story reminds me of 2004 my uncle was battling cancer at the same time Kanye was still new to the mainstream and a few of his college dropout songs always take me back to that time whenever I hear them. R.i.p. to both our Uncles.

Perhaps his most underrated song!
