A few years after, he finally introduced his well-known persona K-391, with an ambition to enable people's escape from reality through music as the vehicle and the destination only limited by one's imagination. He debuted on the record label NoCopyrightSounds with his track "Dream of Something Sweet" featuring Cory Friesenhan in 2013, then released his final track on the label "Earth" on 30 April 2016.
On 7 April 2017, he and his frequent collaborator Alan Walker released their collaborative track "Ignite", a reboot of K-391's 2015 track "Godzilla" featuring Marvin Divine. Although the track was a collaboration, Nilsen was only credited as a feature. On 11 May 2018, the two released a version of the track, now featuring the vocals of singers Julie Bergan and Seungri. The said single peaked at number one in their hometown, Norway.
On 30 November 2018, K-391 and Alan Walker, together with singer Sofia Carson, released their collaborative single "Different World" featuring CORSAK, which is also a reboot of Nilsen's 2014 track "Sevje", and appeared on Walker's debut album of the same name alongside "Lily" with Emelie Hollow, which also a remake of K-391's "Flux". The two, together with producers Martin Tungevaag and Mangoo, reunited in August 2019 with their collaboration single "Play", which is also a remake of Mangoo's "Eurodancer", and back in March 2020 with another collaboration single "End of Time" with Ahrix, producer of the earlier version "Nova" in 2013.
In October 2020, K-391 released "Aurora" with singer [aritst]RØRY. The next year of September, he and Walker collaborated again with their single "Paradise" with singer Boy in Space. The aforementioned song was then released as part of Alan's sophomore album World of Walker.
On 12 November 2021, Nilsen collaborated with producer Linko on their song "Go Home" featuring Mentum, which is also a reboot of their older collaboration track "Away". He then collaborated with singer Julianne Aurora with their single "Nightmare" on 24 February 2022, followed by "Lighthouse" on 29 April 2022, then "Lonely World" featuring Victor Crone on 26 May 2022.
On 19 May 2023, K-391 then released his new single "GO"; which was then followed by the song's multiple versions including sped-up, slowed and instrumental versions.
K-391 was mainly known for his conceptualization of one's music getaway in the shape of a unique headset. Throughout his career, he gained over half a billion views and two million subscribers on YouTube, starting from his commercial debut in 2018.
