K-Lee Lyrics

Bandit Business
I was grown from a young age
And yea I from the south but its still cold days
I was living day by day I ain't have no faith
But now I'm dreaming about a mansion with some gold gates
Why everybody staring they feel my presents when I enter
I can't say that I'm perfect the lord knows that I'm a sinner
Why I ain't looking for love the ones I love they know I miss em
I just ran into the plug and I decided to keep my distance
I got haters outside of music yea
I got head on Tchoupitoulas yea
They rap about it they don't do it yea
Don't tell on yourself that shit foolish
When you feeling alive they send a reaper
I can't give you my life so I drop teasers
When I go look at some mansions that get me T'd up
You got to judge me off me and not my features
They say to much of one product make the stock drop
To many black men on one street that got the block hot
I been trying to kill my demons they just knock knock
And everybody got a time like the shot clock
I was grown from a young age
And yea I from the south but its still cold days
I was living day by day I ain't have no faith
But now I'm dreaming about a mansion with some gold gates
Why everybody staring they feel my presents when I enter
I can't say that I'm perfect the lord knows that I'm a sinner
Why I ain't looking for love the ones I love they know I miss em
I just ran into the plug and I decided to keep my distance
I got haters outside of music yea
I got head on Tchoupitoulas yea
They rap about it they don't do it yea
Don't tell on yourself that shit foolish yea
When you feeling alive they send a reaper
I can't give you my life so I drop teasers
When I go look at some mansions that get me T'd up
You got to judge me off me and not my features

They say to much of one product make the stock drop
To many black men on one street that got the block hot

Overall Meaning

The song "Gold" by K-Lee is a reflection of the obsession with material wealth and the struggles of the Black community in America. The lyrics depict a desire for and an appreciation of gold in various forms, including gold jewelry, gold teeth, gold paint on cars, and even the taste of gold. However, the song also acknowledges the historical context of gold and its association with oppression and slavery, with lines like "the chains can change they chained us up with" and "this rope ain't the rope they hanged us up with."

The second verse of the song shifts the focus to the reality of life in the hood where gold can take on a different meaning. Here, gold bottles and malt liquor were used as means of escape and survival. The lyrics also touch on the destructive effects of the drug trade and the criminal justice system, where justice is often determined by gold (i.e., wealth and power).

The chorus of the song, "Bury me in gold," can be interpreted as an acknowledgment of the importance of gold in society while also highlighting the fleeting nature of material possessions. The last part of the song expresses a desire to attain a higher level of consciousness that allows for true peace and fulfillment beyond material wealth.

The Cat Family

We are on fire in the dark of night
we remained unrecognized for a long time
and then we're out into the world
into the light,
first alone, then hand in hand, step by step,
and every moment there is no turning back
we are part of a whole that is greater than you and me, you and me.
We'll be like gold
we will be like gold
we will be like gold
we will be like gold
more being than appearance.
We always find our way back through the shine that surrounds us
to the hidden happiness
not alone, hand in hand, step by step, come with me, come with me
We will be like gold
And every moment there is no turning back
we are part of a whole that is greater than you and me, you and me.
We'll be like gold
we will be like gold
we will be like gold
we will be like gold
more being than appearance.
We'll be like gold
we will be like gold
{and every moment there is no turning back
we are part of a whole that is bigger than you and me,
You and me. (2x)}
we will be like gold
we'll be like gold

French Grey Summer

This song's vibes somehow reminds me of my 2008/9 even though I haven't heard it at the time. Love it 😍
