It wouldn't surprise me since Tinnitus is by it's definition the brain compensating and being oversensitive to a certain frequency due to structural damage in the ear or damaged audio neuropathways

This is an excellent test for us older folks - start the tone then listen how the tones shift from ear to ear as the frequencies get higher. This tells you which ears are sensitve to which frequency. For me, the lower frequencies are equal in each ear, but as the tones get higher, they start to shift from ear to ear. Weird!

Thats also because the higher the frequencies get, the less omni directional they become which means you can only hear them when you're directly in front of the speaker. Try moving your head up down left and right to find the sweet spot and you will catch the higher frequencies that you missed.

If you put the speaker (powerful enough) on a table and place various different objects near you can find different resonating frequencies for these objects. For example my steel caliber resonates at 216/220Hz. Also , if you have one, You can make resonates a mute diapason with the same frequency on what it is tuned.

You can get a frequency app there you can go over 20khz, its a very painfull way to cats dogs birds and some people that can hear that high spectrum of sounds my hearing ends up to 26khz , thats the sound spectrum of bats and ultrasonic devices it feels like pain in the holr body and makes me dizzy if i hear it to long😢

absolutely not true, find you model of your headphone and look it up X + "frequency response" and you will find a scientifically measured chart showing what the driver can reproduce.... now there might be a ROLL OFF in the bass or treble however almost all headphones can produce frequencies we can hear(if the volume is turned up) and almost all of them can also produce sound much louder than we can tolerate. The limiting factor if your ears not your headphones by a long shot, stop spreading misinformation.

At low volume I hear up to 16hz but at maximum volume I hear up to 17500hz
Some headphones won't let you hear more than 16Hz or even less.
Don't worry, you're unlikely to lose your hearing unless you're over 60
And yes, YouTube probably ruins the sound

I could hear between 30Hz and 16kHz. Which is interesting because when I had my ears tested professionally as a kid they said I had midrange hearing loss but I could here everything in between 30Hz and 16kHz on this. I had to get my ears tested a lot as a kid because they were concerned about my hearing loss. Then I stopped going because I was scared they would recommend I get hearing aids.

Most devices (ex phones) can only produce sound only to 16000hz. If you hear it suddendly cutting off, its your audio. If you hear it fading, its your ears

played this before and after turning on my Samsung's audio boost for hearing loss in the accessibility settings to see if it actually did anything. first run there were parts where the sound would dip out or seem to "move" from ear to ear (uneven hearing loss). second round, while didn't give me perfect range of hearing, smoothed out just about everything on the spectrum! insane difference!!!

Also just realized my roommate probably asked if I was able to adjust the EQ in my car, because I already had adjusted it thru my phone and the boosted up mids and trebs probably sound like shit to him LMAO

This is very interesting. I can hear all of the low stuff (done with over ear headphones) but start not hearing at around 12000 hz, first in my left ear then stop hearing in my right…which is in line with other tests that show my level of hearing damage.

The test tone stops at around 17.3k. I tested it with a digital inline meter and compared it to an actual verified 20Hz-20K sweep that I use for testing rooms. Same with the HD version. Also there is some phase distortion that begins at 15.8k and then sound starts descending in pitch until what's reported as being 18.5k. Could be YouTube compression or the file itself. So don't be offended if you heard nothing above 17.3k because the test tone abruptly stopped there.

Probably due to the audio compression since I'm assuming the person uploaded it at at least a 320kbps mp3 (which would still be bad in making a transcode). With audio files for Youtube it's around 128 kbps AAC at most (only HD video goes higher than this) which means the cutoff is around 17.0 kHz i believe theoretically, but with rolloff and whatnot it'll vary a bit. The phase distortion could also be a result of the lower cutoff as well, though I'm not sure exactly.

It's interesting because according to the frequency response of your earphones, you probably won't hear the 15Khz+ range because most drop off there. Interestingly it picked up near 18K for me though, on Moondrop Chu.

I had ringing in my ear for a day I searched for video like this. listened twice in low vol and mostly fixed my issue. I knew one of those frequencies would stimulate the inner ear hair that was laying down causing the ringing. Usually can do it with whistling through the spectrum

@tauqir syed I think I saw in a documentary..ear ringing can occur from inner ear hair sort of fails and lays down. Each hair is responsible for receiving certain frequencies..and when they fail they lay down instead of standing up and that leads to ear ringing..we can try to reset that hair by exposing it to the gamet of sound frequencies..this may be a temporary solution..also ear ringing may occur from taking too much aspirin per day.. according to my mom that suffered from it a decade..

@Kalsten So a periodic wave is one like a sin or cos wave that has a repeating continuous pattern. The lowest frequency (how many times per second this wave occurs), that the periodic waveform is achieved at is your fundamental frequency. The harmonics of this fundamental frequency are even multiples (1,2,3, etc.) of your fundamental frequency. Ex: if your fundamental frequency is 50Hz (50 cycles of your wave per second) the first harmonic would be at 100Hz, 2nd at 150Hz, 3rd at 200Hz, etc.

Why should you listen to headphones at high volumes?
My Sennheiser CX 180 went deep as low as 20 Hz to 20 khz whole spectrum represented quite well at 70% VOLUME
My over ear headphones were starting from 70 Hz to 16-17khz

1:04 is the tuning your guitars 2nd string should be at the 10th fret, if it is to be in the western E standard (which is the across the board default tuning in western music for guitars. 440 Hz. However, if it were tuned in 432Hz, some say that would work perfectly within Pythagorean equations. It's about a quarter step down, just shy of a quarter, about 3/16ths to be exact, from a traditional E standard tuning of today. Some say alot about this frequency.

415.3Hz is what we refer to as "half step down", a beloved tuning for guitarists like Jimi hendrix, van halen, guns n roses, green day, so many played in this as well along with many other frequencies. Half step down was always very slick and standard as well in the west. Before the 50s in America, there was no official national standard for what constituted the 2nd string at the 10th fret, the A4. But now it is, and has been for quite some time, that the 440 Hz be the frequency for the note A4. Everything else based on that.

At 22KHz, well outside the realm of, as I understand of the guitars capabilities, and outside generally of human hearing, is acoustic levitation. Ultrasonic levitation. We can barely hear it, yet it will suspend things in the air. It's interesting how sound works. At certain levels of frequency it can even counteract gravity!

Edit: interestingly enough, my link at the beginning goes immediately to 432Hz. The "natural" tuning as some call it. Alot of theory around it. But anyway I tried to link to 440Hz (standard A4 tuning), but it just happened to actually land on that lol. Either way, I made my point clear. Check it out if interested. I've been playing for almost 20 years and just found out about this. I find it fascinating

Also, it’s weird how it seemed to get louder and louder until it hit just about 4 kHz then seemed to go back down, even though the amplitude of the wave (assuming the wave form on screen is accurate) never changed

My hearing kicked in around 25 Hz and topped out around the mid 15kHz mark, which apparently is pretty normal and unremarkable. Who knew? Harmonics are pretty fascinating and I had no idea instruments actual frequencies top out around 5kHz, with various order harmonics kicking in from that point up...Assuming I said that correctly.
