Living In A Dream
KBong Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I fell asleep and when I woke up I was living in a dream
I heard a voice calling but I could barely see

Could not distinguish this life from my reality
I reached out my hand to see what it would bring for me

Just like the night sky stars shining bright
Sun moon set rise and they passing by

I can see the shadows of the trees swaying in the wind
Like the branch from this tree right down to the
Leaves bark and the roots foundation underneath
Cause our foundation yea we started from the sea

But what if you could fly what if you could swim
Choose your own path bring it up from within

This is the calling of a lifetime now see the sign
Signs turn to blurs lights and the curves
Mesmerize my eyes come and brace it for the next turn
What will we find in the universe
I fell asleep and when I woke up I was living in a dream
I heard a voice calling but I could barely see
Could not distinguish this life from my reality

I reached out my hand to see what it would bring for me
Now feel the breeze blow through the window

Winds carry sounds develop into echoes
Traveling through the space of this temple

Look what we've built with our hands carved out from lands created to be dwellings for us to lay our heads
Only time will tell and show us the evidence

What if every star was a sign for someone below help them to grow
Nurturing and furthering our souls so they can go
The world up above could be reflections of us
Revealing and concealing all the past and paths we've took
I think I'll slow down take another look
I fell asleep and when I woke up I was living in a dream
I heard a voice calling but I could barely see

Could not distinguish this life from my reality
I reached out my hand to see what it would bring for me

Overall Meaning

In "Living In A Dream," KBong sings about the surreal feeling of being in a dream-like state, where reality and imagination coexist. The lyrics suggest that life can be both beautiful and confusing, and that our experiences are influenced by our perception of them. The lines, "Could not distinguish this life from my reality/I reached out my hand to see what it would bring for me" emphasize the desire for meaning and purpose in life. The chorus reflects a sense of wonder and amazement towards the world, comparing it to the night sky with stars shining bright.

The verse about the trees highlights the importance of acknowledging our roots and foundation. The metaphor of the branches, leaves, bark, and roots represents the interconnectedness and continuity of life. The lyrics, "But what if you could fly what if you could swim/Choose your own path bring it up from within" suggest that we have the power to shape our own destiny and follow our own path.

This song and a few others are part of the reason I'm happy to pay for YouTube premium. It always puts me in a good mood and it goes great with the ACIM teachings. ❤

I self taught myself to play this song on acoustic by watching your fingers 3 1/2 years ago when my grandson was born. I play it for him every opportunity we have. He has his own guitar now and will probably learn this song first. "Thank YoU Kevin Bong" YoU have made a difference in our life all with great purpose and good intentions. YoU Da MaN

I am learning guitar now. This song would be awesome to play. My goal is to play a song for my Dad before he passes. He’s in end stage COPD. I definitely need more practice. The guitar I am learning on is a 1958 Gibson 175 hollow body electric. From what I’ve learned this guitar is really a good oldy. 🙋‍♀️🙌🏻🎸

@jerredhill5965

It's a three chord song. C, Am,E⁵ same as 311's Amber. I knew how to play kbong and I'm not that good at guitar but glad you figured it out, reggae has alot of minor chords. I'm still trying to remember the words so I can sing and play this song. 😊
