Amongst the madness of 2020 Nathan found himself forced back into the home studio like many artists have been. The result of that time saw the creation of a new collection of work - a collection that has strong ties to minimal late seventies yacht rock with references to ‘Christopher Cross’ & ‘The Alessi Brothers’ - that sonic touchpoint extends to the wider aesthetic of the project, with videos and artwork all created by Nathan himself. Nathan wears his inspiration on his sleeve and the result is a magical trip through a seemingly simpler and blissful time.
“I wanted to make a bunch of songs that basically just made me happy and I hope it has the same effect on others” - Kesmar
Mistake
KESMAR Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
And I can't hardly wait
I'm counting down the time
I remember these
Moments in the dark
Everything you do to me
I wanna feel it now
You can stay, we don't have to move
We can turn into something new
But you gave me nothing
Right now
I don't wanna wait
You used to be a stones throw away
Now it's too late
You're just another mistake
Just another mistake
Wait
Down let it break you down
Maybe thing's will change for you
But I'll always be around
I will try if you want me to
You can stay, we don't have to move
We can turn into something new
But you gave me nothing
Right now
I don't wanna wait
You used to be a stones throw away
Now it's too late
You're just another mistake
Just another mistake
Right now
I don't wanna wait
You used to be a stones throw away
Now it's too late
Right now
I don't wanna wait
You used to be a stones throw away
Now it's too late
You're just another mistake
I don't wanna wait
Now it's too late
The lyrics to KESMAR's song "Mistake" describe a situation where the singer is still thinking about someone from their past who they can't seem to let go of. The lyrics "You've been playing on my mind" and "I remember these moments in the dark" suggest that this person still holds a special place in the singer's heart. The singer is counting down the time until they can see this person again because they want to "feel it now."
Despite their strong feelings, the singer acknowledges that this person gave them nothing in return. The lyrics "But you gave me nothing" suggest that the relationship was one-sided and that the singer invested more in the relationship than the other person did. Despite this, the singer is still willing to try again with this person because they "can turn into something new."
The chorus repeats throughout the song, emphasizing the singer's frustration with the situation. They don't want to wait anymore because they feel like they missed their chance with this person. They used to be so close ("a stone's throw away"), but now they're just "another mistake."
